And that goes for if you count points AND it goes for if you count yards. That team is New Orleans who played at Seattle twice in the winter. The one team who is notorious for being bad in cold weather.

Here are the offenses Seattle has played.

Yards rank
32 - Tampa Bay
31 - Jacksonville
30 - St. Louis x2
28 - NY Giants
26 - Carolina
24 - San Francisco x3
22 - Tennessee
15 - Indianapolis
14 - Atlanta
13 - Minnesota
12 - Arizona x2
11 - Houston
4 - New Orleans x2

Points rank
32 - Jacksonville
31 - Houston
30 - Tampa Bay
28 - NY Giants
21 - St. Louis x2
20 - Atlanta
19 - Tennessee
18 - Carolina
16 - Arizona x2
T14 - Minnesota
T14 - Indianapolis
11 - San Francisco x3
10 - New Orleans x2

Buyer beware if you are picking them vs Manning and the Broncos.

I don't think it's particularly informative. Based on the eye test, Seattle's defense is obviously very good.

They are very good. But it is worth the attention that their stats are inflated by playing a lot of poor offenses.

And this is one of them.
Let me flip that back at you:

Peyton has 2 playoff wins against San Diego and New England. You could take the best players from both secondaries and they wouldn't be as good as Seattles. Especially considering the Talib was out for a lot of the 2nd game.

It is relative because Denver's Offense is the highest ranked passing & scoring offense, ever. And average ranked opponent scoring defense was 14th with Chiefs x2 at #5 and Colts at #9, NE x2 at #10 and SD x2 at #11.

Both have good special teams, with Denver having a light edge in punter and place kicker.

Denver's defense is playing very well the last 4 games, especially against the run, Seattle's strength on offense.

Stats can be interesting indeed. Tell me ,is it possible that some of these teams have lower ranks in these categories because of Seattle's defense?

Over the course of a full season, the end of year rankings are a pretty good picture of the caliber and quality of a team, especially scoring D and O.

isn't this the exact same perspective Seattle fans post being critical of Denver's so called "soft schedule"?

The top pass offenses according to Football Outsiders would paint this matchup as a defensive struggle on both sides, btw. Top 4 in the NFL:

1. Denver
2. San Diego
3. New Orleans
4. San Francisco

We saw what Denver did against San Diego and we saw what Seattle did to NO and SF.

One or two bad games against a great defense ,Seattle or not, can drop those two stats down in the course of just 16 games that are played in the NFL.
In the Niners case, playing Seattle has totally tanked everyone's opinion of Kaepernick since he has thrown half of his interceptions last year against that one team

I dont buy that KC was a top defense. I know that some are pointing to them as one of their markers against good defenses, but lets be real, anytime KC played a good offensive opponent, they got lit up.

Seattle didn't play the same opponent enough to have a realistic effect on those numbers.

Listing them 1-4 does not give creedence to the caliber of passing offense Denver has.

They are the best passing offense the league HAS EVER SEEN.

They far outscored everyone else and averaged 10 PPG more in scoring than the #2 team Philly.

It's more like #1.............................................................................2,3,4.

Hmm, let's just to the bottom of the OP's post.....the Hawks aren't as good as stated on defense because they haven't played a top ten offense team....does that help?
