MLB commissioner Bud Selig will receive the first-ever Commissioner Bud Selig Leadership Award at the Baseball Assistance Team charity dinner next Tuesday night. No word on whether or not Selig also will present the award to himself.

All jokes aside, the B.A.T. is a non-profit organization affiliated with Major League Baseball, helping those in the “baseball family” who have fallen on hard times.
Selig has been a polarizing figure throughout his tenure as commissioner, and he is planning to retire at the end of the 2014 season after 22 years in the role

I did the ol' reverse jinx yesterday when I said he was for sure going to the Dodgers. :heh:
I thought the $20 million was in addition to the contract? He's still one rich bitch either way! Does this mean the Yanks are gonna go on a spending spree to get the rest of their pieces? They are just gonna F the salary cap right in its butt, huh?

Shhhh. Yankee fans get really mad when you remind them that Brian Cashman all but promised that their 2014 payroll would be under $ 189 mil.

The concensus answer I get on the subject when I bring it up sounds like this -

"It's different, and you just have to understand".

Me, I call it embarassing backtracking, but that is just me.......

And some burgers! I don't really watch NY games so I don't see him a lot, but he and his wife do some local car commercials here and he's quite beefy in them. What a difference! Why did he think he needed to lose so much weight? Seems excessive.

the Yankees will never have their own 'cap'. they like to pay Derek jeter $15 million just to sit the bench for oral support. yes, I said oral support :laugh3:

Diane Lane turns 49 today. And, as far as board members go, I still have dibs......

They already added Beltran, McCann, and Brian Roberts, plus last year's late season addition of Soriano. Could all make up for the loss of Cano, perhaps?
