I said earlier this season that in my opinion there are 3 games the Broncos have to win every season; the home games against the AFC West. That means Thursday's game is the last of those must win games.

Also, I believe this is the toughest game the Broncos have left. I think the short week sort of evens the playing field somewhat. Add in the familiarity of the opponent with Mike McCoy coaching them, and I don't view this game as a gimme for the Broncos. They should win, and I think they will, but if they aren't focused in the Chargers could pull off the upset (especially since they are fighting for their playoff lives).

The way I see it, this team has 6 must win games ahead of them.

Well short weeks for both teams, but the Chargers have to travel and play at altitude.

Advantage Denver.

Chargers always seem to play us tough at home too. We were up on them big last year at home, but they came back and made it a game :D

I agree, I just meant in general that the short week levels the playing field in that teams are usually sloppy and not playing at their best due to not being fully recovered from the previous game. That and both coaching staffs have less time to prepare and gameplan for their opponent, so they kind of just stick to what they do best rather than hone a specific gameplan to attack their opponents weaknesses.

I just think all of those things help to close the gap from team to team in the Thursday games.

I agree with you and Morph. Both teams have to work on a condensed timeline, but the Broncos at least don't have to make a plane trip.

The schedule makers sort of gave us a little pat on the back regarding our 2 game series with the Chargers this year. In San Diego the Broncos were coming off a bye, and the Chargers are the road team on a really short week. Advantage: Denver both games!

Plus it'll be pretty chilly.

Actually, high on Thursday is supposed to be 50, with kick off temp probably in mid 40's. Great football weather.

It will cool off as the game progresses, but not nearly as cold as last Sunday's 10 degrees.

it's 42 here right now, feels almost like Summer after the Artic blast we had.

mid 40's though still feels like the worst blizzard possible to somebody living in San Diego.

On a somewhat unrelated note this is what cracks me up about people saying Peyton will be playing in freezing cold weather for the playoffs in Denver. Makes me wonder if people have been to Denver during the winter season. Yes there are really cold days like we saw last week and what we saw in the playoff loss to the Ravens. What people seem to ignore is the next Sunday after the Baltimore loss it was what like 50? There really is no telling at this time of year what kind of weather you are going to see in Denver.

People who have never lived in Denver often don't know how many nice days there are in December there.

As far as the many folks who try to undermine PM's greatness go, frustrating as they can be, they are just something we'll have to put up with until he helps his team win another SB, much like misconceptions about the winter weather in Denver.

I have heard a Chargers fan claim Denver is covered in snow year round. I laughed and told him he had spent too much time in the sun.

Maybe the Sun shining year round in San Diego has fried a few too many brain cells then. Last I knew the average temperature for the month of January is 44 degrees. Now that is just the average. Now yes it can get cold at night but I doubt teams are playing games at like 4 a.m. when it is at its coldest.
