Not sure why this is even a thread. Ever since MSU lost to UNC everyone and their mother knew if Arizona could beat UNLV today they would wake up #1 on Monday...

UNLV played out of their minds today, take nothing away from them. And other than that, they only teams to even get within single digits of us have been ranked, and neither game was at home. GTFO

I would have had AZ #1 a week ago. Maybe two. MSU was their by default. AZ will be the first team to earn a spot up their this season. Cuse is going to be good, but they've played Baylor and a bunch of cupcakes. (and IU which is neither a cupcake or a quality team, they're just meh, this season)

Im a Wisconsin fan but no. Arizona deserves #1.

By going off of SOS, total wins, and opponent Win% Mass is #1 and then UW is 2. AZ's SOS is 57th right now. Preseason rankings will give them the number 1 this week obviously but from logical standpoint based on wins, SOS, where they played at and top 25 caliber teams they played you have to give it to UW or Mass but they have 2 less wins. Even if I was a AZ fan I would be saying the same thing since this is how the rankings should be based. I will be honest I have not seen AZ this year so I can't compare the two with the eye test at this time. I used to watch them when they had Chase Buddinger though. Also, I hope we don't face AZ in the tourney as it's almost always bad news for us.

Style points are at the bottom of my list for determining the best teams. Unless it's a reoccurring issue I see no reason to consider this hiccup of great importance.
