I really like Sumlin & perceive him to be a guy who won't take any crap from anyone including RG3. You could be right about not having the skill set - who knows. Making the transition from college to the NFL is a crapshoot - some have excelled while others have been a disaster (see Spurrier, Steve).

We might have no choice to go to the college ranks. I will get blasted for saying this, but it looks like the game has passed Shanahan by. His "old boys club" mentality with this coaching staff is killing this team. He refuses to address the Haslet situation and Kyle is doing a horrible job with the offense. His ST coach hire was absurd.

well shark the board mod is going to answer you

can wilson cover anyone ?

how many times did i see both kerrigan and rak rush the passer at the same time ? a handful ?

sure williams and polumbus are this weeks version of who didnt show up to play ? the defense just doesnt produce when its needed . riley blows 2 ints our DC uses the force instead of the players he has, our special teams give up plays and dont make any

i have robinson stopping on a deep ball and dropping another

heck the 1st play of the game garcon drops a ball

and where was davis ? i can see why he doesnt play when reed is there but we see him at the end and thats it ?

nothing about this game spells out that they were prepared to play football

Keep spinning Dad. Griffin looked like crap tonight. The line looked like crap tonight. Im not defending the defense, but the offense as a whole did NOTHING to even compete in this game. Safe to say the coach has lost the locker room. And its sad that right now the team is about to be rebuilt and the one untouchable player on the roster likely just played the worst game of his life.

it isnt spin , the o/line had trouble tonite and the 2 best guys came up empty

yes RG3 looked bad wont say he didnt

but i am not giving up on a talented franchise qb so early in his career and come with the "we could have had tannehill " foolishness

we will see what happens in the future

Simple question... what makes him a franchise QB?? Because we traded the farm to get him?? Because he won a Heisman?? David Carr was considered a franchise QB, so was Andre Ware, Ryan Leaf and Jason Campbell. Its not a matter of we could have had Tannehill. But fact is, we could have started my fat cousin Bobby and made 3-8 so far.

where was this over the summer or last season ? or in the playoff game when shanny was shelled for keeping him in ?

this is complete BS . more like front running

you are smart enough shark to know that young qbs go through growing pains . you also know that the injury has hurt him in so many areas with developing

and there is no way that RG3 is anywhere near as bad as those qbs you mentioned . now you are just being foolish

in fact 3/4 's of the NFL would love to have an RG3

HATE THIS THREAD, but I get why it's here.

Don't think it's smart to not give Shanny the full 5 years. But if he's lost the locker room and the remaining games look like this, we'll be running him out of town. It's who we are as a franchise. I thought we were past that. Weve tried a college guy, weve tried an experienced guy, weve tried shitty guys - each brings a complete start over and puts us back 3 years. Cant we just stick it out for once for the full 5? The biggest annoyance is that I haven't heard ANY good replacements for him that make any real sense yet. Gruden and Cowher are too many years out.

And it MAY be Shanny walking. Why does he need to put up with this BS media market? Fact is , there are teams that would kill to have him as a HC, much as some would like to hammer him as a terrible one. He hasn't been incredible but he's done a lot of good things too.

Bottom line, win/loss ratio is hard to defend after 4 years, if the rest of the games look as grim as tonite did. I just hope we choose a coach(s) who MAKES sense, if that happens, for the core group we already have. Not just blow it all up and set this franchise back, AGAIN.

I've seen Sumlin and BoB from Penn State as possibles from the college ranks. Could they make the transition to the NFL level? I dont follow college. What do we know about these guys?

Lovie for the DC maybe? Can't like him as a HC myself.

Lol - he's done with coaching, man. Can't blame him - I bet the lifestyle of commentator is much easier than the life of a head football coach.

His commentary in tonight's game kinda lends me to believe he wouldn't coach again unless the perfect opportunity came up. Everyone catch his "penthouse/outhouse" comments tonight?

Shanahan is a control freak. Any attempt to bring in a FO executive that will usurp his control will be met with extreme ire and will result in shanahan walking........which maybe isn't a bad plan.

Jesus...im glad I havent had time to post much here...I have saved myself many a headache. Just some random thoughts....

RG3....CAN be a franchise QB but isnt this year....even when he sprints out he still appears slow. He is not the same. Will he ever be again? who knows...but a full healthy offseason will probably do wonders for him

The defense is putrid...the play calling is putrid. Like dad said...we rarely blitz both Rak and Kerrigan...how is that possible?

The O-line looks like crap and RG3 has zero time to throw at times unless he creates his own space....How can we not work better ways for Garcon to get open besides screens is beyond me.

Shanahan needs to go along with the entire coaching staff from top to bottom....he peeked last year...he has lost this team. The only thing I will miss is the zone blocking scheme for the run game...Besides last night...I havent seen holes that big since the hog era. And that was even before RG3 got here....Royster and Helu were tearing it up at the end of the year pre rg3

The effort last night wasnt great....we looked like a team with nothing to play for.

I will be happy when we have some cap money and can maybe add a wr through the draft or fa...and fill some other dire needs.

I feel like Kanye in a wack music video with big breasts in my face...BAM!

Your last sentence says it all. Sounds like another way of saying that the coaching was horrible (again). As for Davis - perhaps just the Shanahans being stubborn - who knows. This is really getting old.

Regardless of where they find their next coach (whenever that happens) I truly wish that they take that time to have separate roles for the coach & GM (true GM - not Admin/numbers guy like Allen). That would probably make for a better organization & make it clearer as to who is doing a good or bad job. As it now stands you cannot separate Shanahan the coach from Shanahan the GM which makes these decisions even tougher.
