Long viewed as the weak links in the NFL (and deservedly so), the Western divisions of the NFL have been doormats of the league for too long. The NFC West and the AFC West are proud divisions with multiple Superbowl victories over the years, but the last decade they've been in the basement of divisional performance. Until now....

The NFC West has been climbing rapidly in the last 2 or 3 years with San Francisco and Seattle leading the charge. The AFC West has been considered a bottom feeder for quite some time now, but the resurgence of Denver, Kansas City and San Diego seems to have them headed in the right direction. Many years of early draft picks will do that for you.

As I look at the western divisions, I see great quarterbacks, big play makers and solid coaching. As the cycle of the NFL goes, it seems reasonable that the East Coast dominance is on the decline.....at least for now. It's nice as a fan of a western division to see parity finally affect the performance of divisions.

What division is sliding the most? AFC North? NFC East? Two proud divisions with amazing accomplishments over the years, but undeniably on the decline. How long will this shift last? Who knows!

I see the NFC West and the AFC West performing at a high level for many years to come. It takes multiple years for patterns to shift and it's time that the West got it's due! What say you?

The west is Denver, maybe a wild card for KC, and two bad teams. No.

AFC west. But NFC West has two playoff teams and two bad ones as well.

There will be at least 4 playoff teams from the two western divisions, possibly 5. When was the last time there were 4 playoff teams from the West?

There is no chance in a million years at 5.

I agree due to so many injuries for the Chargers. Losing Freeney and Ingram was a killer. But if Rivers can keep playing like he is they could win 9 games. Unlikely? yes. No chance? no.

The chargers with 0 injuries would need an unordinarily high number of injuries everywhere else to compete.

Did I say they are? But the west both have worse teams than anyone but either New York.

Other than the Rams and Raiders, the rest of the teams in the west are at least decent. I really thought the Rams would be better but for whatever reason they aren't. I still don't believe in the Jets, Miami or Buffalo. The NFC east is an absolute joke. The west is better, IMO.

The top is but the cardinals, raiders, and rams are all awful. The bills and dolphins blow any of them out.

I think the Cards could beat any of the teams you mentioned.

The Cardinals are literally one tackle away from being 3-1. Should've beat the Rams but they choked that one away. And we're the only team to beat the Lions so far so there's that. We've been without Washington for 4 games and have lost 6 or 7 starters on defense this year.

I know there was 5 in 1983, Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks, 49er and LA Rams.

There is no chance in a million years at 5.

There is a good chance Seahawks, 49ers, Broncos, Chiefs and Chargers all make it. However, I think there will be two teams coming from the AFC south, so there will probably only be 4 from the West divisions.

The Arizona Cardinals are one dust storm from being the New Mexico Coyotes.....

And the Patriots are one Brady hit away from being the Jaguars.
