They don't recommend firing Haslett?

still waiting on Keim's defense review, should be out today. The debate on twitter has been the same as on this forum ... is it the players fault or is the coaches fault.

However, nobody is blaming the scheme.

I asked Keim if he felt Haslett should be on the hot seat ... looks like he on Sharks side in this debate

6m[/ame] [URL="https://twitter.com/Krusheasy"]@Krusheasy I think if they go 0-4 and the defense is horrendous again then everyone should be on the hot seat.

Remember the beginning of the Packers game when the Skins sacked Rodgers 3 times I believe. From that point on they have almost been nonexistent. What happened?

The coverage breakdowns can almost be expected given the combination of youth & inadequate players in the secondary. However - wouldn't you expect at least some productivity from the pass rush? I realize that some players are missing, but a defense that includes Kerrigan & Orakpo should at least provide a certain amt of pressure regardless of the talent on the other side of the ball.

This is where I get a little irked at coaching. They cannot even have some success (at least to the point of not giving up insane #s) with these guys? Puzzling.

Good analysis. As for the Haslett debate - let me ask this to some here in a different way. Do you have any hope that if they retained Haslett for the next 2+ years that - given a little more talent - he could turn this around to the point where the defense not only didn't lose games but also contributed to victories & took up the slack when the offense fell short?

If not - why retain the guy even through the season? Especially if it gets to the point where they lose a few upcoming games & are totally out of the playoff race. Why not hire someone else basically as an audition? If they turn it around - great - something to build on. If not - it just points out the need to conduct a search & revamp the defense for next season. I don't believe this is a case where loyalty should rule since Haslett has been in DC for a while.

Now - if somehow they turn it around somewhat (similar to the end of last year) during the next 4-5 games then you sit tight & reevaluate the situation.

The only reason why you keep him after the bye is that you have no one to replace him with. I can't see Morris getting the job, the job he has done with the secondary is one of the reasons our defense sucks. SO who do we go with?

Wont have to worry about replacing anyone because the offense is going to step up and score points, which in turn will allow our defense to take more risks playing with a lead. The defense tackles & makes stops, which in turn allows the offense to be balance in the run/pass game & score more points. It's a vicious cycle.

I agree with Krush, the best defense is for the offense to put up 28 points.

I have often said I am not convicted either way about Haslett. I think fans aren't happy so they want to get rid of someone. You can't fire the players even if they are screwing up and there are some players who are struggling. At least not half the defense in mid season. I think there are a number of issues but in year 4 it's just not getting done. My gut tells me to wait until the end of the year before installing a new coach. I agree with Keim if they go 0-4 someone might have to go.

If they lose this game & have a poor defensive showing we may not have to wait for Haslett to get fired. Someone might kill him!!

Hopefully - they win so that none of this matters.
