I cannot imagine how bad it will be come basketball season.

For the last 20 years or so, it has been ACC, Big East, ACC, Big East, ACC, Big East

The other leagues might as well not have existed when the ACC/Big East powers were still separated.

Now, that Syracuse, Pitt, Notre Dame, and Louisville are joining, I imagine we will never seen anything but ACC basketball from November to March.

I think ESPN does a good job at covering college football, at least those in major conferences. They have bloggers that I think do a great job giving in depth information that fans like to read. Sometimes they go so far for us to think "Who cares?" So what if they are a little bias or if I think the personalities are idiots, a lot of the information they provide is something I am looking for.

The SEC is the most talked about conference now, so why not talk about them more than anything else. ESPN is not the only news source that plays favorites. If I want a liberal POV, I don't go to Fox News. If I want a conservative POV, I do go to Fox News or listen to Rush Limbaugh.

They don't have one.

ESPN follows whatever is best/popular at the time. It wasn't too long ago all you ever heard was USC, Ohio St and Oklahoma.

Way it goes.

Yep. They drooled over Notre Dame last year, Manti Teo, Florida under Tebow, USC under Pete...and so on. It's just the way it is. If you're good, they're gonna drool over you and you'll love it.

Sure, they have a bit of bias as they broadcast more SEC games than any other league, but I don't think they are going over the top per say.

While the 7 in row BCS Championships seems to be getting thumped into our heads, you also have to look outside of the BCS National Title game and realize that the SEC is winning the bowl games that really matter. Many times in embarrassing fashion.

ESPN is a national network. They should be covering the best of the best. Clemson got a lot of play in beating Georgia and LSU, so the standard is there. Beat the best or STFU.

When teams are doing well their fans are more active is my theory. More active = more viewers if they talk about them.

I have no problem with ESPN talking up SEC football. But it would be nice for them to mention that SEC dominance comes at the expense of SEC schools being regarded as academically second tier, when compared to academic powerhouses like Oregon, Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, etc.

etc.

I understand your point.

The SEC has always been a bit light with the academics. Big 12 castoffs Missouri and A&M instantly became the academic flagships.

But, ORegon???

Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Stanford are offended by having any academic association with Oregon.

Oregon has a nice little football program.

But, lets settle down with the Duck academic prowess.

Right now they have a love relationship with the SEC b/c of a few teams that make the SEC relevant. It's good business. Does everybody remember the love relationship ESPN used to have with OU and USC? ESPN declared the '03 OU team as the best college football team ever right before KSU raped and bukakkeed all over OU in the Big 12 CCG and then ESPN declared '05 USC as "the greatest CFB team ever" right before Texas pulled the upset in the BCS title game.....

Most wouldn't disagree with that. The problem is that it has started a positive feedback loop in favor of an entire football conference. Win ----> More fan interest----> ESPN realizes this and hangs off your nuts ----> better recruiting---->More wins-----> more espn dick sucking---->better TV contract---->better facilities---->better recruiting----> more wins----> more dick sucking than an all expense paid trip to the moonlight bunny ranch with Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson high on ecstasy. etc etc. But at a certain point it gets bad for the game because of the relentless dick sucking. I just watched a highschool game, for example, between two teams from Virginia in which there were zero recruits with SEC teams on their lists....but they mentioned "sec dominance" at least 3-4 times during the game. How is that relevant at all? That's when it starts getting ridiculous and pretty damn obvious to the unbiased.

That's why USC is so unstoppable now right?

USC is just getting off a two year bowl ban, numerous NCAA penalties, had an elite caliber coach jump ship, and hired one of the most overrated coaches in college football to replace him. USCs problems are because of USC and no amount of dick sucking could overcome that. AND even with that they still recruit with the elite. All teams are going to have peaks and vallys, but when 14 teams are getting that treatment instead of just one, the chances of there being a few elite teams and an overall boost of depth goes up. Its pretty simple.

for me i realized it last year while watching a patriots game.

at the start of a game they were announcing the colleges for each starter and all of the sudden they went on a rant about how many SEC players the patriots had as defensive starters. kept referring to it as "an all SEC defense."

now ive watched every patriots game that season and had never heard that before......anyone want to guess which game it was?

answer: the patriots only monday night football game of the season..........(in other words the only time the pats were on ESPN all season)

thats what did it for me as ultimate proof that ESPN pimps team SEC

Ok, Oklahoma or Ohio St?

Basically you are saying the cart is pushing the horse and I disagree.
