That would be a stretch to say they were even slightly better. Varejao was no where near as good as he is now. Gortat wasnt even on that team and whoever Williams is neither was he. Kobe also had Caron Butler and Brian Grant.

The same goes for Caron Butler, he was still a nobody during his short stint with the Lakers. Brian Grant was at the tail end of his career.

And heatmyshorts, I don't know if you're the same heatmyshorts from CBS but if you are don't ever expect me to read any of your posts lol. That dude was a complete joke.

Except that Lebron's scrub team would not have gotten there if Lebron had not completely put that team on his back and carried them to the Finals. Something Kobe couldn't do with a similar team after Shaq left.

Montsho11 is right. Lebron completely put the team on his back and carried them to the finals. To carry the team to the finals Lebron must've averaged 40 pts in the playoffs on 60 pct shooting. Nope. How about 35 pts? Nope...How about 30 pts? Nope. 25 pts?

Yep. Lebron "carried the cavs to the finals" avging 25 pts in the playoffs on 41 pct FG shooting. What an AMAZING PERFORMANCE by Lebron carrying the dreadful Cavs to the finals. I guess Kobe could never average 25 pts in the playoffs on 41 pct shooting...LOL..

Or maybe the rest of the Cavs were better then people thought. Or perhaps it's as simple as the EAST was garbage.

You see, all LeBron's bandwagon fans have to hang their hats on is "what if" when comparing him to the game's all time greats. They call us trolls for hating on the guy, but you can see why the hype is ridiculous. Believe it or not, there are actually some of us basketball fans that just love the game and not constantly star-drive. Hence, yours truly jumping on the Nuggets' bandwagon this summer.

The facts say Kobe missed the playoffs with a comparable if not better squad than the one Lebron carried to the Finals. Kobe sucks and EVERYONE knows that he has only 1/2 of a legit ring.

So we have 2 guys with comparable squads. One gets to the Finals and the other doesnt get to the playoffs his first year. The next year he gets another chance and gets beat in the first round? Kobe is a lucky scrub.

LOL. I guess Montsho11 missed the point. Lebron DID NOT CARRY the cavs to the finals on his back averaging a mere 25 pts on 41 pct shooting...So my question is are you Slow and stupid Montsho11 or just pretending to be slow and stupid? Which is it? Decide quickl...

One more thing, "The facts say Kobe missed the playoffs with a comparable squad"...What facts? Please explain how it was a comparable squad...lol...

And for all the people that weren't watching basketball that year, Lakers lost the last 17 games of the year when Kobe and Odom went down. Nice try dummy.

That would only be true if Lebron didnt carry them Sman. EVERYONE has that as one of the most incredible stretches of play from one player. Without Lebron the Cavs would not have made the playoffs like Kobe had happen to him. Kobe has always needed big time help. How can you consider Kobe to be a great when he couldn't even get his team into the playoffs? It's amazing that you could be so stupid or is it the fact you are in love with Kobe. So my question to you is how does Kobe nuts taste? :laugh3:

That year the only good team the Cavs beat in the playoffs was a Detroit Pistons team near the end of it's run together. That is much easier than having to face a Suns team with Nash in his prime in the very first round, Kobe still led the Lakers to a 3-1 lead. The Cavs were absolutely pummeled by the Spurs. 4-0 in the Finals is incredibly lopsided, the Cavs only led once in the 2nd half throughout the entire Finals. Big Z also had a career high in rebounds in Game 3 (18) and grabbed 13 rebounds in Game 4, he wasn't rebounding like a chump. Going against Duncan can prove difficult for anyone, even at his age now.

Sman, how many rebounds and assists per game did LBJ have that finals run? There is a lot more to basketball than PPG, even on offense.

8 and 8. 1.7 steals per game and .5 blocks while committing only 2 PFs and 3.3 turn overs. Taking 20 shots for those 25 points isn't great but he still played lights out.

The boy played some man ball.

When Kobe was Lebron's age 22, he went up against the Spurs and averaged 34 pts and leading the Lakers to a sweep over S.A....Lebron at age 22 got swept by the spurs, avg'd 21 pts and shot 33 pct against the finals..

That's the difference between Kobe a 5 time champion and Lebron a guy with 0 legit rings.

He played some great ball for someone his age and experience. However, it wasn't quite championshp-caliber. I think we're all guilty of discrediting the Cavs' solid team defense under Mike Brown that helped cover up the liability of LeBron's poor FG% that year.

If there was a competition for most OFF-court class, LeUnethical James would lose it, big-time!

Kobe I'm less sure about, though I doubt he would do as well in something like that as Magic Johnson
or Jerry West.

We arent talking about what he did against the Spurs when he was 22. We are talking about when he was older in his prime and the leader of the team. Thats the difference between having Shaq being triple teamed and you being the main man.

How can you not discredit them enough? They went from the BEST record in the NBA to the WORST!!

Dude, I was talking about 2007 when they actually went to the Finals. I'm thinking that maybe in LeBron's later years with the team an aging Jamison and an aging Shaq may have softened up their D.

Okay, but the rest of my points are valid. LBJ had more than a dumpster fire, certainly had more in Cleveland than Kobe had those first couple years without Shaq.

Not really. Who did he really have? The best player he had was a jump shooting center. Everyone else was either CBA material or undeveloped players that are now somewhat solid in their primes. Kobes team and Lebrons team were both garbage. Lebron just did more with his.
