If only people cared about MVP like you BOT. Sadly for you, the only thing people care about are rings, players included.

MVPs are voted on by the media. Championships are won on the efforts of the players.

Shaq destroyed the NBA for several years, yet only has one MVP award.

Championships mean more to a player's career than MVP awards.

Yeah, but Lebron has a combination of MVP's and Championships that is greater than or equal to Kobe. PLUS, he dominates him in head-to-head matchups. Not enough proof, huh? Heh. Word.

Steve Nash has two MVP awards, but no championships - ask him which he would rather have losers

This argument is pointless. Lebron is the best player of the nba right now and the Heat is poised for another championship. Though he is a great guard, Kobe is not exactly a championship player anymore. He may be lauded for his will and desire but his lack of admittingthat he does not have the youth or health to continue his (outdated and chemistry breaking) style of play will be his undoing.

And yes, Lebron wins most every match-up with Kobe. They are just different players. As an all around player, a Lebron led team would beat a Kobe led (not Shaq-led) team. The Cavaliers beat the Lakers on most every matchup including the championship Lakers.

Besides, the Laker fans have nothing much to look up for. A crippled Kobe and 40 year old Nash leading the likes of Kaman and Young. This smells of bad drama. I have no doubt Kobe isn;t looking for a championship. He will try to score and concentrate on individual stats rather than play team ball. I do not think he will ever defer unless he retires. Let us all be honest... the only way Kobe will win a 6th championship is if he defers to a player in his prime.

Bill Russell > Robert Horry > Kareem > MJ > Magic/Kobe > Duncan/Shaq > LBJ

The Ring argument is for fan boys who want to hold on to something that never was.

TEAMS win rings, THE PLAYER wins the MVP.

Also IIRC the topic sentence was "since LBJ came into the league" or something similar which there is no arguing that.

If I couldnt win a championship because my team was just not as good i would be very satisfied with an MVP. I have yet to see a player win a championship by themselves. Rings are a team accomplishment way more so than an MVP.

Championship teams come and go - the Lakers will always rebuild just like Miami had nothing and suddenly rebuilt so if you think the Lakers have nothing and will never rebuild - you are one fucking stupid idiot. Oh!!! I almost forgot - You're a Heat fan!, Okay that explains it:laugh3:

Dwyane Wade has been playing with LeBron James for two and a half seasons now, and has been to the NBA Finals two years in a row with James. This season, LeBron is having one of the most impressive seasons in NBA history, and looks to be well on his way to his fourth Most Valuable Player award.

But at All-Star media day, Wade said it was Kobe Bryant, not James, who is the greatest player of his era.

“When you look back at this era there’s going to be a lot of players that you can pick from. You can talk about their greatness. This is a good era for basketball, and it would be led by Kobe Bryant – who was the greatest player in our era.”

This comes on the heels of Michael Jordan’s comments that he would take Kobe over LeBron because of Bryant’s five championships. While Wade certainly didn’t mean any disrespect to James, it’s a sign of admiration for Bryant’s accomplishments that he would indicate Kobe as the generation’s greatest talent.

Wade will face off with Bryant once again in the All-Star game on Sunday.

Kobe was also voted the league's favorite player by the players themselves. Please be quiet Heat fans and recognize greatness.

This was actually a rookie survey this offseason, not the entire league.

Lebron has 0 legit rings. First one was an Asterisk season which no one counts. Second one he choked his balls off, only to be SAVED by his teammates....So still 0 legit rings.

Till Lebron wins a ring without Bosh, Wade and Ray Allen, no one's impressed.

BTW, regular season mvp's don't count since they're voted on by a biased media. That's why Nash has 2 mvp's and Shaq and Kobe have 1. It's a p.c award which is 100 pct meaningless. If it was a real award Kobe would have like 8 of them since he's been the best player in the league for over 10 years.

Sorry but that's the truth.

Peace

Except that Lebron's team was good enough to get to the finals and Cleveland and he still choked. MVP is a worthless award and has no relevency to championships. Championships is about having a good team, but Miami had a good team the year they got asswhupped by Dallas. Face it - Lebron is just not all that great

Think Horrible Bosses. Not only does Lebron James completely own Kobist in the W/L column, but he statistically dominates him in head-to-head matchups. Fact of business, Lebron has been Kobist's cruel boss since he came in the league. I don't know if there's been a bigger whipping boy than Kobist for Lebron. :10:Word.

Coming from a Celtic fan nothing you say is relevant...Congratulations, you've officially reached DUMB TROLL Status!

Except that Lebron's scrub team would not have gotten there if Lebron had not completely put that team on his back and carried them to the Finals. Something Kobe couldn't do with a similar team after Shaq left.

LeBron's not even making the playoffs in the West though. Hard to compare the teams. Varejao, Gortat and Williams alone is way better than just Odom, Brown, Parker.

That would be a stretch to say they were even slightly better. Varejao was no where near as good as he is now. Gortat wasnt even on that team and whoever Williams is neither was he. Kobe also had Caron Butler and Brian Grant.

That is more like a lifetime achievement award for a grandfather. It is the advantage of Kobe being in the league for so long and still, though inefficiently, performing as an above average guard. Of course, Wade's fondest memory is probably breaking Bryant's nose.

But let's just give it a rest with old injured Kobe. Noone can deny some of his achievements, but we are looking to the future, not the past. Would Wade want to be traded to the Lakers to play with Kobe and for a championship? I don't think so.

Now Tmac, who is contemporary to Kobe in his prime, may have a better view of Kobe's skill set. And I don't think Tmac ever said Kobe is the best in his era.
