I am not taking anything away from the clinic that peyton put on last night, but yes that play was huge. If the officials had got it right or it had been challenged no first down, no TD, at least that drive, and maybe the ravens defense doesn't get so gassed.
I think people don't always realize how just a few things going one way or another can create huge swings in results in games being played at the nfl level. You look any blowout and in the vast majority of the cases you are going to see a play or 2 that, if it didn't happen that way, the results of the game could have been greatly different.
I am not saying the ravens would have won and clearly they had more than enough time to recover and didn't, but yes, that was a big play.
The saying that momentum can change on one play is very true at any level of football...but in that case, as you've agreed, there was way too much football remaining to say "if" this happens, "maybe" things would've gone another way.
If it was mid to late in the 4Q...okay I can see how the momentum change would be tough to overcome on the road, but if I'm not mistaken BAL was leading 17-14 @ the half in spite of the blown call and it could've been a larger lead as they had the ball 1st dwn on the 6 with half a min left.
