simply put doughty in as long as needed till merriweather is healthy even if it means till the bye

Guys... Doughty wasn't the real problem last year. asking him to play above his level to make up for M. Williams was. If Rambo is even close to as good as the coaches hope, Doughty will NEVER be put in a position to have to make those coverage plays on an island. In the box he is as solid as they come. Playing center field on an island.... you know what you are going to get so I partly blame the coaches.

Doughty played the best he's ever played last year. They were able to let him do what he does well. Good teams with good passing game will game plan to expose him though. Get him mismatched where he has no alternative but to cover past 15 yards and he becomes a big liability in coverage. We've seen that story his entire career. If he has to start for a prolonged period of time, that is my fear.

If they can mask him and keep him in the traditional SS role close to the line of scrimmage and attacking, he's good in that capacity.

I get what ur saying.... Just Fisher probably had more value than Doughty (for there respective teams) Fisher=Starter
Doughty= backup

Also fish was very clutch.


Doughty is what he is. Solid in the box- making tackles. Absolutely terrible in man coverage.

Simple solution: Keep doughty in the box.
