Granted I'm a Hawks fan but this just seems like such an unknown to me. I feel like Shuan was one of the fastest rise and demise players at the RB position in the NFL. His #s end of day are still impressive.

100 RUSHING TDs (more than Barry Sanders and other greats) and almost 10,000 yards. MVP for one season.

The stats point to the fact that he should be in, but the fact he ran behind quite possibly the best O-Line assembled in the last 20 years points otherwise.

What's everyone's thoughts? Should he be in or not? I'm frankly on the fence. Part of me sees why he's in the discussion, but probably more of me sees why he isn't (God O-Line, offensive HC mastermind at WCO, little bit of a soft runner (ain't no Lynch), etc.).

To put in context, his #s are fairly similar to Franco Harris. Same TDs, a couple thousand less yards, but more YPC. Very similar in size/weight.

No offense, but I don't think Shaun Alexander is even close to a hall of famer. Five 1000+ yard seasons is a good player, but that's nowhere near HOF status.

No. There's a fairly long line of RBs in front of him who have yet to be inducted. Most never will be. Another one for the hall of the very good. TDs are his strongest argument and they're often a function of the teams style of play in any given year. TDs are good thing of course, but a metric that fluctuates so wildly from year to year is probably not the best one to use.

I don't think he deserves it.

Some players are just better than others at finding the endzone.

I dont think that he's a HOFer. But 5 straight years of 14+ TDs implies that in those given years he was the reason the offense functioned like it did. If they were spread out, then I would agree that it may be more chance involved. But having them all bunched up like that..... he was more of a catalyst than a beneficiary of good luck..

Not sure why he only lasted until 08. He did have a 5 year stretch where he was HOF material, but he didn't last long enough.

Nope. Although that MVP will more than likely get him in on the senior vote.

Hmm seems like the general consensus also kind of agrees with my stance on a no. In any event just curious and asking the question.

We don't need these kind of dumb, de-constructive comments here. One had barely 30 TDs and added no feature to the offense and one was an MVP and legit game changer for 4+ years with I believe top 5 rushing TDs in NFL history. Get out of here with your stupid comments.

You're* first off. Get educated fast.

I'm well aware he doesn't have San Francisco sports logos plastered under his avatar name. What does that have to do with anything?

Hearst played at Georgia so he's just being a homer.

like 500 HRs in baseball I think 10000 yds is the magic number for HOF worthily RBs
