Aaron Murray = Over-Rated QB

While Aaron Murray has the chance to break most UGA & SEC passing records this year, his career record against ranked teams is only 4-10. According to Athlon Sports, that puts him on their Top 10 list of over-rated QBs. Is the criticism deserved? Does Murray's inability to win big games effect his QB legacy?

I think he's a good QB but even UGA fans will agree he's had a hard time finishing the job in the big games. I can't say anything about Mettenraper, he lit Bama's ass up pretty good.

This is ridiculous; Aaron Murray is an outstanding quarterback. One could make an argument that A. J. McCarran is overrated because Alabama has had a full compliment of players; certainly better than what Georgia has been able to put on the field. Against Notre Dame, McCarran simply handed the ball to two of the best backs in America behind an offensive line that simply blew out the Irish each and every play. IMO, both will be playing next year in the pro's and both will do just fine.

I don't think anyone is saying he isn't a good QB... but he hasn't lived up to the hype that UGA created around him from the beginning.

I don't really think McCarron is rated that highly. You don't ever hear him talked about (especially by scouts) in the discussion with guys like Boyd, Bridgewater, or even Mariota, Miller, etc. We'll see this year with his new line, though I still think he'll be fine.

Yes, I agree about Murray. He is a really, really good QB.

Yeah I was actually good friends with him until like 13. I don't think he ever go beat up, but it's fair to say he wasn't liked by the stoner community. His straight edge loser friends were his only friends. People did use to steal his stuff though, which was funny. I remember one kid took 100+ bucks from his gym locker when he wasn't looking.

2. If you measure by wins against quality opponents, even though it is a team game, you would have to say he is overrated. If you go by number of yards, and other such measurements, he has been quite accomplished. As a Dawg fan, I can't recall many games he lost on this own. Take the USCe beat down last year ... is that on Murray or is that on the O line? Aren't going to complete too many passes sitting on your keister half the game. Take the SECCG against LSU 2 years ago ... in the first half 3 TD passes hit receivers in the hands and were dropped. Is that loss on Murray?

I love Murray ... he is a damn good Dawg. Let's see what he does this year.

That's the thing, like the "Best SEC team" thread, there's sooo many variables that go into this kind of thing that it's practically impossible to come up with a definitive answer without breaking down damn near everything you can break down throughout a entire season. It's really just all opinions until that happens.
