I hope you were not part of that group that consumed the yellow snow cones at Minute Maid Park this year:)

HOUSTON -- A vendor at Houston's Minute Maid Park has been fired after a fan filmed him taking a tray of snow cones into a stadium bathroom and putting it on the floor of the stall while using the facilities.
The fan shared the video with KPRC-TV (Local 2 Investigates: Snow cones on bathroom floor | News - Home ), which aired the report Wednesday night.
New Astros president Reid Ryan says: "The Astros were notified immediately by our partner ARAMARK of the incident involving a vendor on Monday night. We commend the swift reaction displayed by ARAMARK of terminating the employee immediately upon learning of the incident that evening."
ARAMARK, which runs food services at the ballpark, call it an isolated incident and says the vendor's actions were "a clear violation of our food safety practices and are not reflective of our standards."

No,

parking issues, the stadium is poorly designed for fan accesibility, and we bought beer on our way to our seats and we were told we would not be allowed to bring them to our seats, which is just asinine to me (yes we finished them and promptly sat down), but I don't see the logic in buying a beer in one part of the park at the same price and not be allowed to take it to your seat...

Also we were going for the Rangers/Astros interleague series a couple years back and were not allowed to bring in our brooms for the Rangers "sweep," but I get this one... kinda

Arlington would never let Dallas steal TEX away. Dallas city and county governments spent months trying to put together a Cowboy stadium proposal. Bickering back and forth between governments wasted Jerry's time. Arlington came in and made a proposal one morning and by noon the deal was done. Downtown stadium with considerable traffic issues would fail to attract fans from the rest of the metroplex just because of the difficulty of getting to/from a downtown park.

When it comes time to replace RBIA the process favors the development oriented Arlington government putting the deal together. Sports/entertainment venue track record does not favor Dallas being able to compete against Arlington.

Jerry did all he could to get the stadium in Dallas but that idiot sea hag Laura Miller would have none of it. Once the economy started going down a huge chunk of the season ticket holder stopped and they're from the North Dallas/Collin County area. Most the people I know all through grade school had parents that got season tickets and they all went away. On top of that if you live in say Plano it's a 40-45 mile commute each way and the team was hit hard because many of those fans didn't come back including some opting to go to Roughriders games when they game to Frisco. Plus dollars and money wise you'll be able to attract more money by tapping into those markets and they make a huge difference being in a location where there are more firms to go after.

When things may not be rosy, you'll still have fans willing to go to the games by having an avenue of taking the DART rail directly to the park. It would be wise and in the best interest of getting of the franchise in having access and the ability to get easy mass transportation a part of the experience especially when you play 81 times a year.

While I know that may never happen I think it's virtually a no brainer. I know Arlington would give a good package but overall but building it in downtown Dallas in my opinion would be the best decision when you consider everything.

Respectfully disagree, and it certainly isn't a no brainer, Dallas has its merits but not enough to make it the better location

With all due respect ... DART doesn't have enough capacity or enough routes even with TRE to bring the fans to/from the park especially from the mid cities and FW to cut significantly into the private vehicle traffic.

Politics supporting any new TEX ballpark will require a regional solution for funding and development if it is located outside the Arlington "entertainment center'. IMO ... with the North Texas Regional Mobility Authority having established a highway network providing excellent vehicle connectivity throughout the metroplex siting the new park ... points to a midcities (to include Arlington) location centered to take advantage of the road network rather than one in downtown Dallas served by DART.

The downtown Dallas option is not the best decision when everything is considered any more than it was the best decision when Laura Miller et.al. failed last time around. Dallas city and county simply doesn't have the means to make it happen.

I disagree as well..... A move to Dallas would kill the personality and chemistry of this team. I've been to maverick and stars games in Dallas and the arenas are so lifeless. The fans hardly watch the games...... It's an unfortunate side effect of having " corporation" season ticket holders because most people from those companies aren't big sports fans and go to the games to "see and be seen".

It took the right person in office to make things happen and the AAC happened and it's been a great area that's been developed and is continuing to develop. Arlington while being do'ers do deal with many of their citizens not too happy with the constant taxes here and there that seem to be high at least coming from a few Arlington friends of mine. There's always politics involved and Laura Miller was the worst person to be mayor when Jerry World was being discussed because she made sure it wasn't going to happen even though Jerry would have preferred having it in Dallas. At this point tho Dallas is slowly but surely getting its act together and if the Rangers were open to building a park in Dallas I think they'd try to make it happen.

The infrastructure is already there tho for getting the DART rail a part of the pitch and it will only improve. Even the TRE is there that if they can devise a way to to be efficient with faster commutes then I think a whole lot of people will utilize that. I don't know if DART or anything similar will ever connect to the parks in Arlington because Jerry World especially make a ton off of parking but with the Rangers, they have 81 games a season and that factors in to overall commute, time, money etc in my opinion.

I realize many don't like the corporate dollars but let's face it that corporate money and season ticket holders is what it's all about and its a huge factor in what drives that buss especially when you can tap into areas that have more firms to reach out too. Dallas would just be able to trump Arlington and FW combined for that matter. IMO it's about the long term and I just think it would beneficial if the park moved to Dallas. And I disagree that they don't have the means to make it happen, they can make it happen and if they did I think it'd be a huge long term success. The DART line from has already started or is about to start soon so I just think that connectivity from other parts of the city into Downtown Dallas will not be as big of a task as we think since the basic infrastructure is already there.

The average fan in DFW is pretty different from other places. From my experience, I think the best fans that consistently get into the game and get loud are Stars fans but the last 5 years have been down with Hicks crapping that franchise to the ground but they're getting back up there very quickly now. But for the most part in my opinion the average DFW fan in general is pretty easy going compared to other places.

Hockey fans in general are louder. Smaller venues. Continual action. If you think Stars fans are loud ... you ought to have gone to a Blackhawks, Bruins or Flyers game in their old venues. Even Islanders in their heyday in the LI Forum out noise Stars fans.

Earlier in the thread I predicted only one West team would make it in. However I thought it would be Oakland not making it. One team got hot and one went cold.

Here is to 2 AL West teams in next season.
