Look, no one, not even Duck fans are suggesting that because Oregon built these facilities that every 4 and 5 star player in the country is suddenly going to want to be a Duck!!

A kid that has always wanted to be a Trojan or a Wolverine or a 'Bammer or whatever else, is going to go to those schools and nothing's going to change that!!

But those facilities can make a big difference to a kid who is undecided on where he wants to go!! If Oregon can use their facilities to snag a couple of those in each recruiting class, then they won't have to worry so much about the success "going away"!!

:agree: This.

RustyNail has gotten to the point where he realizes how wrong he is, but he is too deep in the thread. So he will just about argue anything. Seriously, young impressionable kids don't care about facilities. LOL.

The thread has officially jumped the shark.

They do lawdawg and we all know that but the majority of the top programs have them. Oregon isn't getting some kid Alabama is after because of facilities and unless whoever Oregon is competing for has dump for facilities there are going to be other reasons the kid choices the school.

Having a single digit recruiting class and finish ranked in double digits like UGA, Texas, OU, Ole Miss is not our way of fun. We would rather finish the year in single digits. But let's face it the recruiting rags are not the most accurate predictors. Oregon has several players in the NFL that were not 5 star ranked high school players.

You mean the UGA that has played in back to back SEC championship games and came within 5 yards of playing for the NC? As for Ole Miss they've had one! This year. We might want to give them some time. They do compete with Alabama,LSU,Texas A&M, Arkansas (will b back),Auburn (will b back) just in the west. Wonder how Oregon would do playing those teams every year? As it stands they play a Stanford team that's been good for 3 years, A USC team crippled with sanctions and not sure who would be next. Utah? Colorado? Arizona? Arizona St? Washingon? California? Wow! For the record Texas was in the NC game(2009) the year before Oregon played in it's first one ever (2010).

So they will pick a school because of a rusty nail and some old coot from 80 years ago, but not because of new, hi-tech facilities. You really aren't very knowledgeable about today's college football. Seriously.

Kids pick schools for a combination of reasons. Considering most major programs have pretty good facilities, the extra "wow" factor of a few is pretty minor. Kids are not picking Oregon over Ohio State because they might have a few extra nick-nacks here and there. That's what you still don't seem to understand.

Let's just assume Oregon's facilities are the best in the country, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, Oregon scores a perfect 10. If a kid visits Ohio State or Alabama, they're facilities probably score somewhere in the 9s. So no, I don't think a kid is going to choose a school because they have just a few more perks inside of their facilities.

Most of the time kids pick schools because they think they can win there. Academics is huge for a lot of recruits. Coaching staff, how comfortable they feel with the other players, history of putting kids into the NFL. All of that plays a much more significant roll than the facilities because when they visit four other major programs and Oregon, it's likely all schools are going to have top notch facilities.

Hardly, as I pointed out in my post above this - facilities only matter to keep you on par with other schools. Any advantage your facility gives you over another major program is minimal. Whether a kid walks into Georgia's facilities or Oregon's facilities - I guarantee both are pretty impressive. The only place it would actually make a difference is if you're recruiting kids that are taking visits at some mid-major school vs. your major program.

also look at what those "lackluster" classes have done. Oregon has finished ranked 2, 4, 3, 11, 9 and 23 and has this year starting at #3.
Fiesta Bowl, Rose Bowl wins Played for NC and another Rose. Holiday and Sun wins as well.
a couple Heisman finalists, All Americans, Doak Walker award winner.
yeah Im ok with these "lackluster" classes.

Sure, you've done well with what you've gotten but the notion that these facilities are pumping up your recruiting classes is nonsense. You're getting decent kids and winning with them. That winning causes other kids who fit your system to want to go there, not the jacuzzi in your locker room. What I'm suggesting is that your team's success/failure sits on the ledge of Oregon doing well each and every year. When that stops, just for a short while, I don't think Oregon is in a good position to recover quickly.

I guess we will see how this all pans out.. you have a 22/17 ranked recruiting class this year depending on which rank you look at.. either way not a top 10 class.. and now a new coach..somehow I do not see the Ducks just picking right up where CK left off.. there is change and it always comes with bumps and bruises.. I would not be surprised at all if you all drop from the top 10 before the season is out.. Will it happen? :noidea: I just wouldn't be surprised if your top 3 ranking didn't last very long this year

Oregon went from 1st in the Pac to 3rd when going from Brooks to Bellotti but just a few years later oregon was #2 in the country. Then from 2nd to 1st when it was Bellotti to Kelly.

and has been pointed out, Oregon does just fine with "not a top 10 class."

Without those facilities, the kids will not come regardless of wins. Kids today pick schools based on uniforms for crying out loud.

I can't stand Oregon's basketball floor. It makes me feel like I'm on acid.

Ah, my 2nd favorite :lame:argument!! The "it's not that my argument has been shot full of holes, it's that you "just don't get it"!!

Here's a thought: This ain't rocket surgery we're discussing here. I'd say that it's a pretty safe bet that everyone on here understands your argument, it's just that most of us don't agree!!

How soon before we get the lamest of all arguments, "it's true because "everybody knows" it is"!!

Funny thing is you make this thread stating that we will "never" get it. So why argue it? You said never.

Ranking 17 year olds is way too speculative with the formula they use. Sure your 40 time important, but isn't being able to spell "fourity" an asset too.

I kind of like the rankings. #1 recruiting classes have sure worked for us! And it has to be since according to Oregon fans, who have the only good facility in the country, it can't be our facilities! :noidea:
