People will at least take them serious now. My heart says that they will be able to make some noise in the playoffs but the reality is that KG should retire now and Pierce next year. They will provide some veteran leadership and could change the culture of the Nets for the better. My guess is that this is the reason the trade was made in the first place.

Pierce has minimal value, KG is a liability. No way in hell do I want that chest-pounding cancer in my locker room.

lol at KG being a cancer. He is a guy who wants to win. Every teams needs a player like him. Calling him a cancer is moronic.

Sorry, but you are way off on this. KG is one of the best leaders in the NBA. If every team had a player with KG's presence, the league would be a lot better.

I can understand why you wouldn't like KG, especially as a Laker fan, but that takes it way too far to say he is a cancer.

The way I see it, Brooklyn ought to be able to get at least one good year out of KG, two maybe out of Pierce. Not sure about Terry, though throwing him in made the deal sweeter.

Nets will be improved but the biggest move this off season will be Drose's return to Chicago. Remember...in the two years Chicago had a healthy Rose...they finished both years with the best record in the East.

Miami will still be the heavy favorites...but the best teams after that will be Chicago, Indiana and then a toss up with New York and Brooklyn.

The other good thing about the Nets is that they got rid of Wallaces contract, so even though Pierce and KG have big contracts, they are up in what 2 years?

That was the best part for me. Wallace was so useless and horrible for the offense that I thought he had a worse contract than fucking Iso Joe.

Paul Pierce is in the last year of his contract so he'll be off the books after this season. I hope he returns to Boston on a vet min deal. Word.

As is, the Nets have an extremely nice 8-man rotation:

C) Brook Lopez
PF) Kevin Garnett
SF) Paul Pierce
SG) Joe Johnson
PG) Deron Williams

Andray Blatche will get minutes at C and PF.
Reggie Evans will be the primary backup at PF.
Jason Terry will be the backup PG/SG. I think he will come off the bench for Pierce and Joe Johnson will slide over to SF.

Each man will average ~ 30 minutes per game give or take. I wonder how tempted Jason Kidd is to becoming player/coach? Word.

Celtics rebuild, trade Garnett and Pierce to Nets | NBA.com

Who got the best of who in this deal? It looks fairly even to me. Are the Nets going to be better off with the "oldies but goodies"?

For the Nets, it depends on what KG and Pierce have left in the tank. If KG and Pierce can play at a high level and maintain that level throughout the playoffs, the Nets could do some damage for the next couple years. If it turns out they are just old, then the Nets are in trouble.

For the Celtics, it depends on what they do with all of those picks that they have stockpiled. If they get some good draft picks and maybe package a couple in a trade for a top player, then they could re-build fairly quickly (3-5 years).

In the short run, the Nets probably got the better deal, in the long run though, I think the Celtics got the better deal.

The Nets have zero athleticism with this lineup. You're essentially playing Indiana and Chicago's game (slower methodical game). Both of which will kill you on defense. Please stop using 'word' after every sentence. It's not cool, it just makes you look like a douche.

:agree:which belies the press conference and discussion that Jason had with his GM, Billy King. Jason had indicated that he wants the Nets to run. Well, after trading for the aged vets in Pierce and Garnett that option has been removed, for the Nets have essentially become the current Lakers, slow, aged and essentially a half-court offense. The only youth in their starting 5 is Deron and Brook. The other 3 starters, JJ, Paul and Kevin are in their 30's. With the loss of Marshon and Keith Bogans via the trade, there is no capable backup to JJ at the 2. There is no capable backup at the 2 as free agents fitting the budget, the Nets capped out with a hefty luxury tax liability. So, this team has lost a load of flexibility with this trade, belying Jason's intentions as the new head coach for Brooklyn. Doesn't look promising at all..... Yet, we'll see for the roster is as yet developing.
