Why the Celts next move should be to trade Rondo

Ah,

But here is the key. Those moves were made possible by two things.

first, the Celtics sucked because of a Pierce injury. If he were healthy, they may not have been able to pull those deals off.

Second, those two trades were once in a generation maneuvers. Had they only been able to make one, and not the other, the Celts would not have won any rings.

Who is going to take on Wallace? Do you realize how bad he is? His contract is literally among the 3 worst in the NBA, if not the worst. The only way to move him is by giving away assets along with him.

You give away picks and they have plenty of them.

I think there is a point where a team can trade away too much.

I also don't think the Celtics should trade away Rondo because I don't think his trade value is as high as fans think it is. I also think that Rondo is a valuable piece just for the ability to show up during the playoffs. He has an on/off switch, imo, but since his value is likely very low right now you have to appreciate his 'on' switch in the playoffs. Rondo is a guy that can go against Rose and outplay him. You don't give that up, imo.
Not when your plan is tanking this upcoming season in hopes of getting the first overall pick in next years draft to get Wiggins.

We haven't seen Rondo play yet or his attitude when he knows realistically the team has no chance of getting past the first round. He might act like a disgruntled bitch who does nothing but be a distraction by starting bullshit??

I think most of you guys haven't considered that most likely Rondo doesn't WANT to be there and may force a trade.

I'd say his days are numbered in Boston. Nobody wants to be on a team during a rebuild, especially a guy that's won a title there. I'll be surprised if he finishes the season in a celtics uniform.

kinda like why the mavs wont get howard,, didnt get williams.. wont get cp3.. go plan powder!

Tanking in the NBA isn't like the NFL. It doesn't automatically get you the best player. They might not get the #1 pick to get Wiggins.

I'm trying to say that tanking is a brilliant idea. Full on tanking is a terrible one. Celtics had a prime-ish Paul Pierce when they tanked.

I think you are right here too.

Thing is, I believe the Celts would get more/better future assets for Rondo than they would Jeff Green. Green can bridge the gap.

Also, I am pretty sure that the way the rebuilt last time will be a lot harder to pull off again.

I hope they keep Rondo and make a playoff push. That would only enhance my Wizards chances of getting Wiggins or Parker.

Crotch, you should take it as a compliment that I am talking about your C's. I have come to accept that my Wizards are too dumb to ever be relevant. Ainge is one of the best in the business, which is why I expect him to make some more bold moves.

There are other good players in next year's class too, like Parker, Smart and more who will emerge.

I can tell you one way that they definitely won't get Wiggins or Parker. :yahoo:

A total sidenote here but Colton Iverson should be able to outplay Kelly Olynyk and Fab Melo

By my estimation, the Celtics and Bucks will drop out of the playoffs and they'll be replaced by the Raptors and Wizards. Way too early to speculate but if Wall is healthy, the Wizards are...mediocre

I know. Sucks.

I think they may fall just short of the playoffs this year, still without a realistic chance of winning the lotto. I would guess 35-40 wins.

That does make me feel better.

The Wizards almost had that fate. MJ was part owner before he divested his share and made his comeback.

On a completely unrelated topic,

I will be utterly shocked if Zeller turns into more than a role player. They could have had Nerlens, Len, or McLemore.

Wall dramatically improved his game last year and Beal's game improved dramatically as the year went along. Their team defense is also really solid which means they are a fringe playoff team at worst, imo. Porter, while not spectacular, should fit what they are doing like a glove.

The rebuild looks pretty complete for the Wizards, imo, and its time to roll with what they have.

I realize that. But you have a better chance of getting it than say going 34-48

I agree but he does have the exact same reputation that Lamarcus Aldridge had coming out

They still need a big. Maybe the guards play well enough that they can attract somebody via free agency.

I definitely wanted Porter before the draft, but when Nerlens fell, I was seriously torn. Tough call.

The NBA may be the only league where 14 - 68 is better than 34 - 48, even 44 - 38. Lottery be damned.

I think if I was a Wizards fan, I would want them to make the playoffs because in the NBA, you have to lose in the playoffs before you can win in the playoffs. A 6 or 7 game series against the Nets, Heat, Bulls or Pacers would be a real learning experience if they could get it.

They have more or less done it the right way, but I did not like the Okafor/Ariza deal one bit.

I think they needed to move McGee because he was never going to grow up in DC, but they may regret that one in a couple years.

Do you think the Wizards could possibly attract a good free agent big while Beal and Porter are still on rookie deals? That is the only way I see them getting over the hump to where they are legit.
