Never compared them but you just cant just assume it will be a cakewalk. Since this happened doesnt mean there cant be a upset. Upsets in sports happen all the time

Who assumed it will be a cakewalk? A 5 game series can be a really tough series ( see 2011 Miami vs Boston/Miami vs Chicago, 2013 MEM VS OKC for example)

Upsets does happen in sports all the time but not in the NBA playoffs. In a best of 7 series the better team almost always win.

Yes they were.

You don't beat a team 4 of 7 and 2 times in their backyard if you're not the better team.

Well werent the heat the favorite to win it all?
Favorite is not the same as saying better. They were clearly a flawed team that year and Dallas was better and had a great defensive scheme to shut Lebron down.

So, now the focus on anti-Lebron hate is to somehow blast their playoff opponent pathway??

By suggesting that the route was the easiest in the NBA??

What use is the regular season then?

The point of winning the OVERALL #1 SEED is to insure you get arguably the easiest pathway to the Finals.
There are only a handful of team who won titles that had to play world class championship level teams early on.

Usually, the #1 seeds get:
-- a patsy in round 1
-- a challenging but overmatched opponent in round 2
-- a worthy near equal competitor in round 3.
-- a coinflip or superior team in the finals

There are exceptions.
But, the system is designed to produce those results.

Otherwise just make the regular season 15 games long.

I don't buy the "rust" excuse!! If the Heat had just blown the Bulls away in 4 games, then everyone would talk about how "well-rested" they were.

"Well-rested" and "rust" are like "veteran" teams vs. "old" teams. If an older team wins, they are veterans. If they lose, they are old!!

Heat are old...ish. Look at the shooting by their 3 point players and how gassed they looked in the 4th. Those are symptoms of too much time off. Then look at how many games the Bulls won after that.

It doesn't really matter anymore though, that series is over and the Heat now have to wait around for Indy. Losing Game 1 was probably a blessing in disguise seeing how it keeps them a little more in the swing of things.

Also the nuggets were 38-3 at home, that means jack shit.

Nuggets are not the Heat.

Jason Kidd="great defensive scheme"...

hehehe...

You forgot JJ Barea

@trojan about "well-rested" you are right. You have to ignore that crap from ESPN though. ESPN sports coverage more closely resembles couples counseling. Feel free to use that analogy to talk your significant other into ESPN or other sports :D

"And when Dwight said that how did that make you feel?"
"Oh boy, Cleveland fans feel hurt, and angry and betrayed."

Rarely
"With Player Z out this is what team X is going to do to fill that gap, which will leave this area open but team Y doesn't have enough offensive power to attack that spot with out giving up this."

It is like when MTV used to be Music TV and ESPN used to be sports coverage and analysis. Not he said she said BS.

I keep telling all you basketball experts to look at some tape of the games. It wasnt just Jason Kidd. It was a whole team defensive concept that Dallas used to force Lebron to the left knowing he would shoot a jumper. This year Jordan said the same thing and Kobe promptly used it against him in the ASG

Guess I'll throw in my 2 C. Miami was up by like 15-17 in game 2 with like 6 or 7 minutes to go. D-Wade was looking like 2004 D-Wade in games 1 and 2, and then they collapsed. If the Heat win game 2, they win that series, point blank....and even then, they went up 2-1 in that series and were in position to close it then.

Anyone care to explain why they put the extra day in between 2 games in the same city and then only 1 day off when switching cities?

:wtf2:

Just because the Heat make it look easy doesn't mean that Indy is not a pretty awesome team. They are like Heat light but stronger down low. My Knick fan buddies were all licking their chops thinking that they were going to walk through to the Heat and take us to 7.

Indy is a decent team. I wouldnt call them pretty awesome. I would take Golden State over them in a series. I dont think the pacers suck. they are the second best team in the East.. but probably around 7th/8th best team in the NBA.

While I agree that the Pacers are not "pretty awesome", I think that they would beat Golden State in a series. Golden State is a perimeter team and the Pacer play some of the best perimeter defense in the NBA!!

It's their perimeter defense that gives them a "punchers chance" vs. the Heat!!

What I thought too but I have no idea why that would make a difference in ratings. Even then I thought that an extra day to set up would help TV, not like that would be hard for billion dollar corporations.

"pretty awesome" was overrating them for sure. My point was just that the Heat and Pacers match up very well against GSW. Indy would probably go 6, heat 4.

and inside presence

I think a more up to date question is who would you take in a 7 game, Spurs or Indy?

What if we said no coaches? :D

Every year I have had a really hard time getting on the Spurs as a real threat the last few years. I know their past and intelligence but I just never seem to think they have enough fire power to come out of the west.

It could be some Lebron redemption if it were Spurs Heat though. Great story, look for refs to fix the Grizzlies Spurs series....jk ....mostly
