I just don't see how Carmello Anthony will ever be respected as a credible super star or an elite player. He is too much like Iverson. He tries to play like Kobe Bryant who also has been a selfish player, but Kobe has 5 championships to his zero and I really don't see him ever winning a championship

Durant has played a whole 8 games without Westbrook this season, won four of them. Lets not rush to judgement about what KD can or can't do shall we?

LoL at me defending a longhorn against you star.

I think Melo right now, but in a few years, Durant......he's showing right now he can't carry a team

i disagree with that. he IS carrying the team, he is putting up insane numbers doing it as the ONLY weapon on that team.

he is carrying that team extremely well. Sefolosha, Martin, and Ibaka are just toally sucking and cant do shit right now. And there is that empty hole at center named Kendrick Perkins who does absolutely nothing

It is an answer. To maintain his credibility, he needs to back up the statements he made and win a ring this year.

Yeah of course he needs to win this year, they are best team they SHOULD win or it is failure.

But that wasnt the question. He wasn't even in the conversation.

I think what he means is that KD lost with Westbrook to the Heat last year and now without Westbrook they are struggling in the 2nd round. OKC winning this series would give KD a pass for 2 or more years.

He's not producing WHEN IT MATTERS.

Where was he in the 4th quarter the last oh, 3 games? How about OT?

He doesn't even ASK for the ball! He's so used to Westbrook taking over late in games. I love Durant, but he has no killer instinct.

That's such a stupid and uninformed opinion. I don't feel like googling everything but go look up KD's stats the last few years of scoring in close games under 2 minutes and especially in game tying or winning scenarios under 30 seconds. 3 games is such as small sample size that only a fool would make such a broad statement based on that. C'mon, you're better than that.

I got to go Howard. The easiest route to the NBA title has usually been through your big men. Wilt, Kareem, Russel, Shaq, Timmy, Hakeem.. For Howard to be the 'best' big man in the game and never win a title is far more of a resume blotch than the rest, especially the smaller guys like CP3.

Bullshit.

18 of 22 in the last 3 games in the 4th quarter, ALL losses.

Coming up small in the KEY moments of the game, CONSISTENTLY. My point has been proven.

Had this been Melo, Lebron, Dirk, you name superstar we don't like here, this is ALL WE'D HEAR ABOUT.

In the clutch, Durant has failed. REPEATEDLY. And sooner or later he'll get the same critiques all the other players get.

STOP being intellectually dishonest.

Lol you are a moron. Kevin Durant is 4-for-4 attempting go-ahead field goals in the final 24 seconds of 4th quarter in last 2 playoffs; rest of NBA is 2-for-23.

he took 53 percent of Oklahoma City's shots in the final five minutes in the past two games, compared to 22 percent of their shots throughout the season. (When everyone knows the ball is going to Durant and he has no help at all, it's hard to get a good shot off)

Kevin Durant has averaged 264 dribbles per game since Russell Westbrook's injury. His season average was 134 per game (per SportVu). (he is probably also a lot more winded than he is used to being late in games because he is having to handle the ball a lot more)

In the last five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime, ahead or behind by five points or less, Durant has gone 7-of-9 from the field (77.8%), including 2-of-3 from 3-point range (66.7%). In four games with these clutch situations, Durant has scored 19 points, dished out five assists and has a plus/minus of +12.

And it gets even better with less time on the clock. In the last minute of the fourth quarter or overtime, with the same score margin of five points or less, Durant has been a perfect 3-for-3 from the field, including one 3-pointer. In four games, he has eight points and one assist in these situations and a +6 plus/minus.

Lets also not forget that he hit the shot with 11 second left in game 1 to give them the win. Without Westbrook teams can key on him and there is nothing he can do about it.

Durant was part of one of the worst chokes Ive seen in my lifetime with that Dallas/OKC WCF a few years back. He is absolutely a clutch shooter but you can't always get him the ball. The guy also averaged 10.5 Rebounds against Memphis. You could argue that he is the best rebounding wing player in the league.

Its not like he had a bad series. Just a bad shooting game or two. Even with that bad shooting, his +/- was only -4 (the whole game). The +/- of Perkins was -10 and the +/- of Martin was -16. The GM should be taking a lot of heat.

FAIL.

NONE of that happened in the last 4 games, WHEN IT MATTERED. NOBODY here cares what he did in the regular season, or last year's playoffs.

When the chips were down, and his team needed him to produce, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

I'm right, and you are CLEARLY wrong. Facts of this last series cannot be denied. You can bring up stats going all the way back to his seasons in 3rd grade, but none of it will mean squat since he's sitting at home, directly because he failed to make shots.

He is a moron. It's that simple. If that is the case, Lebron must be the most clutch player in the NBA. He has lead his team over this year and last. It doesn't matter about the past. The past shouldn't be considered correct?

Tubbs found some of the stats I was referring to and commented on them accordingly. By starbigd's logic, Nate Robinson has earned a near max level deal this summer. Stats over the regular season and career be damned, he carried the Bulls in the playoffs with some clutch performances!!! Small sample sizes have no bearing whatsoever! What a glorious world we live in. I will now go join the PGA tour because I once got a birdie on a par 5 on one hole of an 18 hole course.

My point was that IN THIS PLAYOFFS Durant failed.

That is a fact. You all started bringing up stats that don't matter.

I'm good, I'm not the one here that's failed to see the points posted.

That's a blanket statement about Durant as a player, one that was thoroughly disproved. Don't try to wiggle out of it now.

I stand by it as a statement. He has no killer instinct.

Every year in the playoffs, we hear criticism of Westbrook for taking most of the shots in the 4th quarter of games......and we never EVER see Durant asking for the ball.

You can pull up all the stats you want. I watch the games......Durant has hit a few buzzer beaters, but RARELY does he take over in clutch situations, especially in the playoffs. This is the one area he needs to improve in. He needs to start DEMANDING the ball late in games.
