I just don't see Le'Veon Bell being that big of an upgrade over Redmon/Dwyer.

Even if he's only a small upgrade over Dwyer, if he starts every game he should do as well as BJGE did last year (lawfirm had 151 FF pts, good for 19th).

At that point on the list, I think it's just about being a team's "starter" and staying healthy. The only guy to start 13 or more games and come in with fewer FF points was LeShoure, so BJGE's value came from simply seeing the field (he started 15 games). Half the league didn't have a single back start 14+ games.

As far as I can tell, lawfirm had never been injured before last year, and had never fumbled in the NFL, which are two great ways to start a lot of games, and a good call by Monkey.

Bernard could screw all that up this year, though.

I drafted him as a RB3/4 in most leagues last year. I just think his lack of speed turns off fantasy owners, and it is a legit concern. I just feel that Bell is nearly identical, only he plays for a team with a worse OL, and no downfield threat in the receiving game to take some heat out of the box

Personally I think any RB who starts and touches the ball 15 times per game and plays in 12-14 games is worth an RB 3 (in some cases a RB 2). As a rookie, would I rely on Bell as my RB 2 - no, unless he shows an awful lot in preseason. As for the OL and downfield threat of PIT, agree on the OL but feel a healthy Brown & Sanders should pose enough of a concern to keep defenses honest.
All in all, I'd probably take a flyer on Bell, but not before rd 8 (which will likely be too late).

Funny how the 'help' was by taking fantasy clunkers off the board so the decent players would still be available.

I don't know. I had guys lined up as mid-round picks and he sniped them like four rounds ahead of me. :hurt:

(I just broke two rules I set for myself: no footposts and no smilies. Oh well.)

Brown looks to be a possession guy imo. smooth route runner, good hands, but I don't recall seeing him make a lot of plays downfield, unless it is great run after the catch. I can't even claim to have seen Sanders on the field enough to get a good assessment of what he can do. It seemed like he was starting to get going (2yrs ago I think) and then he got injured and had a death in the family and missed a few weeks in a row, then kinda faded behind wallace and brown.

Just like all teams tho, if they dont get the OL straightened out, things are only going to stall/stutter in the passing and running game.

sam - I'm happy to NOT see the LA Queens logo under your name. Just in case anyone thought that Brown wasnt a complete piece of trash, I'll give you some video evidence that is pretty clear.......

Schwartz was awesome in Game 1, and getting the attention of a thug like Brown just proves that he is playing great right now
Lol................the reason it's not there is it wouldn't fit...............

yea, the refs were playing for LA in the 1st period, then started tilting towards STL in the 2nd. 3rd period I didn't see a whole lot of hits/cheap shots that warranted penalties from either team. Surprisingly, clean 3rd period considering how chippy they were getting in the 1st and 2nd

Not much of a hockey fan, but I'd respect the sport a lot more if there weren't teams in cities that never saw snow and they didn't play in June. Isn't it over 90 degrees in L.A. right now? Never mind that they scrapped their cool division names.

I thought the hit on Kopitar was just as bad as the hit on your guy about 5 mins. earlier..............honestly Kings did get lucky on a couple of puck bounces but thought we should have had at least one more PP. I have a feeling this goes 7...............

OK, then baseball should just be played in the southern warmer states. So I'll trade you Hockey for Baseball and I'll throw in Tennis........well, maybe not. Been a Kings fan for a long time (over 30 years) and last year was awesome, so nevermind, I'll keep Hockey too!

funny you should mention hockey in June being an issue in US, cause in canada, it can actually get too cold and they have to heat their buildings up to keep the ice at the right temperature. Looks like there is no perfect climate for hockey!

I also think that the game (or maybe the NHL) does a horrible job of branding their image and making the games enjoyable to watch on TV. Once you are in the stands watching a live game, it's easy to get hooked. Personally, I've taken my wife to multiple Blues and Rams games to get her to realize that the Cardinals arent the only team in town. Blues have won just as many as they have lost when we have gone, and the Rams games she's been to have all been wins (which is an amazing feat since they have had some shit years) but she still prefers the fast paced action on the rink.

BTW, Smo, when I say that last night I thought it was pretty obvious he wasn't throwing his knee out there to do any damage............he just had to in order to line up his body for the forearm he threw.........

Hockey talk on the MBBRL? Wow.

Actually, this statement by Monkey is a good one and used to bother me a lot. There are so many things that the NHL and Bettman can do to promote the game. (I have ideas.) Now, it doesn't bother me. In fact I could care less if people prefer something else to hockey.

As for Wil's statement about hockey in warm places... did you know that Jonathon Blum is the first Californian (born and raised) selected in the first round of the NHL draft in 2007. But I digress...

If the warm weather cities can support the sport, I have no problem with it. That said, the Florida Panthers should be first to go. Atlanta failed on TWO - count them TWO - NHL teams; the Flames, and Thrashers. Atlanta should NEVER be allowed to get an NHL franchise - EVER.

But in all fairness, Columbus is not a warm weather city and they have trouble filling seats.

And yes, Brown is an agitator.

God bless those of you who enjoy hockey..more power to ya. My favorite NHL season was 04-05.

absolutely love to watch a minor league/semi-pro hockey game in person, our Colorado Eagles are perennially atop thier league, but you'll never, ever find a hockey on my TV.

And look where Foot ended up in the standings, compared to you, Wil. He did you a favor. Or as his "bio" on MHWS mentions, he 'helped' you.

(I just broke two rules I set for myself: no footposts and no smilies. Oh well.)

Ok, I admit I miss the big lug. I get the feeling I'm not alone? I won't miss the smiley faces, though.

Treff, that's just mean about the 04-05 season. (Since it was cancelled.) I wonder... would Treff rather have Foot around, or the NHL? Hmmm.

touche! I can confidently say that I would gladly subject myself to endless hours of watching hockey than to willingly submit to yet another 1000 word essay on why I should draft the latest gym rat in the first five rounds.

But come on..even the standings are a pain in the ass to read!!

Fisher see Tavon as a quicker, faster cutting Chris Johnson. I see the same thing and that is why I love Austin so much. He reminds me of a young Chris Johnson but with better moves. Can you imagine what we are about to witness. I can’t wait. Could be unpresidented!

Clift-note From MWHS - For those who miss such things. ...... Chris Johnson remains the standard by which all things are measured.

I think the last time we were unpresidented was November 22, 1963.
