These next 2 months are going to great times for us, however, although we are one of the most successful franchises since our inception, there have been some rough times.

Anyone have any memories, good or bad, that are part of Heat history that may now seem forgotten?

I will start it off with this. This was the moment I knew our franchise was going to change drastically either for better or for worse.

April 28, 2010

After we lost to the Celts. Wade said he was a good sport, but not a good loser. Followed by:

“This will be my last first-round exit for a while, I’ll tell you that.”
–Dwyane Wade, after his Miami Heat were eliminated from the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. (Via TrueHoop). Take that for what it’s worth, you can read a lot into it, but the smart money is still on the help coming to him in Miami, not him going to the help elsewhere.

I prefer this one :

June 30th 2010:

"I got a goal, and it's a huge goal, and that's to bring an NBA championship here to Cleveland, and I won't stop until I get it."

- LeBron James

That's just another one of many Cav's problems.

What does that has to do with ego? It had more to do with confidence. He knew that the Heat were going to have a big offseason and if they did not he would go somewhere with better talent surrounding him.

Hey Mr EX King of the NBA boards, how can you have questions about ego?

Oh wait.... never mind, you probably don't see the connection...

Here let me explain ego to you it is the part of the psychic apparatus that experiences and reacts to the outside world and thus mediates between the primitive drives of the id and the demands of the social and physical environment...
In other words...

He is full of himself...

So having confidence that you won't be getting eliminated in the first round is ego? You guys make it seem as if he said starting next year I will be playing in the finals every year for the rest of my career.

I guess in your world believing in yourself=being full of yourself

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong in believing in yourself BK. But do you think for a minute that he knew at the time that LeBron was coming to South Beach?

Now I'm no expert on the rules here BK but doesn't this hint to the whole collusion thing? I know he could have gone else where but the confidence in that statement says something more to me. Maybe it's something more than you're ready to admit? IDK

So Lebron was the only player in free agency that would transform Miami from a 43-45 win team to a 50+win team and a top 3 team in the east?

Bosh, Amare, Lee, and Boozer along with a proven PG such as Raymond Felton wouldn't give the Heat 5-7 more wins the following year in the weak ECF?

Along with signing Wade and a top PF, the Heat still would have had money to sign a proven PG and also much better role players than they had to settle for since they signed LBJ, Wade, and Bosh to big contracts

BTW the heat won 47 wins in 2010. Are you telling me there were not 2 good free agents the heat could've signed with wade to get them 5-7 more wins in the following season?

I'm no fan of Lebron or the Heat (I know, bks is shocked to learn this!! LOL!!) But there's no collusion in players talking to one another about playing together. They do it all of the time.

The players really don't have the power (not in a legal sense) to make something happen. D-Wade can talk to Lebron and Bosh and then go to management and say "Hey, I think that we can get these guys" but that's all they can really do. It's then up to management to decide whether or not they could or would spend the money.

Now, if it could be proven that Riley, Arison or some other member of Heat management got with Lebron and Bosh while they were under contract with their previous teams and/or before they were allowed to contact free agents, then you would have collusion, tampering and probably a few other violations as well!!

Right, I wasn't talking about a couple of players talking. I know that cool. Heck Shaq was the who talked to Malone and Peyton back in the day, I was talking about Wade actually knowing...

Like I said he was awful confident in his statement and he may have knew a lot more about a backdoor deal that was made prior what the rules allow.

Those are some very fine points there BK but if the Heat won 47 games and got bounced in the first round who's to say if they won say just 5 more games that they wouldn't get bounced in the first round again. Like I said he was awful confident for a guy who wasn't suppose to have a clue to what the future held. He acted more like a guy who knew exactly what was in store for his playoff future.

I remember the Heat back then, dude they had just about everybody's contract clearing that year. They needed a lot more than just 2 good free agent, they needed a lot of role players too. As it turned out, when you have a LeBron, Wade and Bosh, those role players will sign for a lot less money. You don't think that Pat knew this all along? Heck he saw it happen with GP and KM with the Lakers for Shaq's last Finals run as a Laker.

You guys have no proof of anything....just pure bullshit.

And you still didn't answer the question. Is it impossible that the Heat could not have signed 2 more free agents along with Wade and win 5-7 more games which would leave them at 52-54 wins and most likely a top 3 seed in the east?

And if LBJ told Wade he's coming to Miami, who CARES! Wade does not own the miami nor does he sign players.

Unless you have solid proof of Pat Riley and LBJ making a side deal before he became a free agency just give it up

If that were proven, the Heat would be in deep doo-doo!! Heck, I almost hope it does get proven, just to see what the NBA would do about it!!

Having a consistent #2 option such as Lee, Bosh, or Amare is much different than having the very inconsistent Mike Beasley as your #2 option. He did know what the future held. Unless you were living under a rock in 2010 EVERYONE knew that Miami and NYK would sign a few of the top 5 FA's that year. It was never a secret. It was just a matter of who get who. So Wade knew the team would look different the following season because they finally had money to sign another top player to play along with him.

I remember the Heat back then, dude they had just about everybody's contract clearing that year. They needed a lot more than just 2 good free agent, they needed a lot of role players too. I agree. They did need a lot of role players but remember if they don't sign LBJ they have all that money to sign at least 2 role players with that money. In addition to that the contract they gave to Mike Miller would have gone to a better role player instead of a one dimensional player like Miller. They used to MLE on him.

I could see the Heat signing Wade, Lee/Bosh/Amare, Felton, and Wes Matthews that offseason if they never got LBJ. Let's say Felton and Wes Matthews split LBJ contract (in terms of money mil made per year). They would have still had Mike Miller money to sign even more role players.
