I'm thinking this thread has soo much brasky fail, it belongs in the Penalty Box.

It's not worthy of the CFB forum.

Zero tradition.

That's not really true. Wisconsin isn't in the top tier of college football in terms of tradition, but then neither does LSU and they've won two BCS titles.

They are a founding member of the Big Ten, play in a century old stadium (which seats 80K+) and are half of the longest running rivalry game in D1 (admittedly not a very exciting one of late, but still).

The bigger question is this: has Wisconsin become Nebraska's new Texas?

If we'd won this year in Lincoln I'd say yes.

And also if they would just flip Wisconsin and Michigan already and make the divisions East and West, so we could actually play Nebraska (and Iowa) every year. Although I like being in Ohio State's division too. But Delany insists on adding East Coast deadweight so no one gets to play everyone they want to year in and year out.

See the B1G Expansion thread B-Apple! What do you think of the inner-outer division alignment with a 10 game schedule? I think it could work pretty well. P.S. You Can go to Badger games @ Rutgers now at least. Maryland shouldn't be too far to drive!

Inner/Outer is just inherently confusing and forced, IMO. Is the "inner circle" cooler than the "outer circle"?

East/West makes logical sense and competitive balance would be fine over time. You can flip MSU for Illinois to make the divisions pretty balanced top to bottom (i.e., the division with OSU, Michigan and Penn State would also have the 4 worst teams in conference)... and preserve Illibuck game as a bonus.

East: Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois
West: Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue

You'd basically have 3/4 "traditional powers" in the East, but the next 3 best teams in the West. And every team in the West is one that has been and can be competitive over the longer term.

Now the only way I could be convinced otherwise is if someone credible (like Barry or our next coach after a few years) says that playing games further East is a boon to Wisconsin's recruiting, and enough of one to offset the impact of longer travel for players and fans.
