Right now, all we have is the "on paper" or stats to compare, because lets be honest, we both have an easy schedule.

Alabama played two tough teams, lost to one, beat the other. (Texas A&M and LSU)

UGA played 2 tough teams, lost to one, beat the other, although UGA's loss was by blow out. (SCAR and UF)

This is just my opinion, so feel free to dispute...


Offensive edge - Small edge to Alabama

Both teams have two good passers, Murray's QB rating is 177.15 and AJ's is 176.25, Murray has 8 ints and AJ has 2(Murray does throw the ball more I believe, so it's understandable).

Both teams have two very good running backs, both have 1 back over 1,000 yards, and another running back close. Bama's Yeldon gets a little more carries than Marshall, so he's a bit closer to the 1k mark, but Marshall is right there.

Offensive line is where I think Bama earns the slight edge. With the above being even, Bama's line has three 1st round talents anchoring it down. I don't know much about UGA's line, but I feel confident in saying that Bama's line is better.

Defensive edge - Alabama

UGA's scoring defense is ranked 16th, Alabama's is #1. UGA's defense has gotten 24 sacks, Alabama has 30 sacks. UGA's defense has 10 ints, Alabama has 16 ints. UGA has allowed teams to reach the redzone 38 times, Alabama has allowed teams to reach the redzone 23 teams. UGA gives up 17.7 points per game, Alabama gives up 9.3.

Coaching edge - Alabama

I like Mark Richt, but I think Nick Saban wins the coaching edge over most coaches.

Penalties - UGA gets 3 more penalties a game than Alabama.


This obviously has no bearing on the upcoming game, anything happens when two teams are playing for the championship, depends on who wants it more that day. I can't wait to get it on.
