For all of the bad moves that Washington has made, I actually like him as a person. He did some good things while here it's just time for him to no longer be our manager. Instead of firing Wash I wonder if there's any way he'd take a different job within the organization.

Yet another example of his crappy game management. Yu showed he's our ace and why. He was cruising and wash pulled him for a struggling holland because he wanted the lefty matchup. You don't pull your ace to match up. It wound up not mattering because the rangers couldn't score to save their lives, but its yet another example of wash's complete stupidity when it comes to game management.

In the post game interview the reporter asked if he felt the croud booing him was justified. His answer was about 15 seconds long, but included the phrase "no matter how high I was, I would never boo someone".

He was then asked if he had thought about the fact that this might very well be his last game as a Ranger. He replied that it had made him feel sad at first, but the boos has drowned out those sad feelings.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass Josh.

Does TEX make him an offer in free agency? I actually don't think they do.

I see a "qualifying offer" being made (for draft pick compensation).... But after that, I don't know. This season was one for the ages with him.


As for the season... Was a Hell of a ride. Lots of up's and down's. Kinda glad its over with though.... not sure what moves will be made in the offseason...but I compare this to what happened to the Mavs in 07.

My top 2 priorities are extending Elvis and Harrison.

To be quite honest, those fans do not deserve this team. The same could be said of a few posters here.... (At times). You have to love both the up's and down's of a team. If you choose to only love the up's and not the down's.....well.....you're the "fan" everyone hates.

Same can be said about the players. If you only like the good times and not the bad.....well....you look like a clown. Rah rah rah....eff you eff you eff you...... Rah. Rah. Rah.

Josh did not get booed because he went 0 for 4. Don't you find it curious that the crowd was still chanting "Nap-o-li" even though he had a down year and contributed nothing last night? D you not understand why Josh would get booed and guys like Young and Napoli wouldn't?

I'll clue you in. It has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with effort and attitude. Lamar Odom got booed out of Dallas for the same reason. It wasn't because he couldn't hit shots. It's because he had miserable body language, showed no effort whatsoever, quit on his team, and basically didn't care to be there.

Fans want players who try. They want players who hustle. They want players who are proud to be wearing the local uniform and show it in their actions and words. They love the David Murphy's, the Rusty Greer's, the Mike Napoli's, and the Adrian Beltre's through thick and thin because they give their all every game, they battle, and they genuinely want to be Rangers.

Now look at Hamilton's actions this year. First was the whole "I don't owe the Rangers anything" comment to the media. After all the Rangers have done for Josh on a personal level, that comment right there is not going to sit well with a lot of fans and rightfully so. Both he and his wife indicated with their comments that one of his feet was already halfway out the door. The whole "we're gonna go where the money is some can give it to God" stuff let us all know that the Hamiltons already were thinking ahead to where the next paycheck was. Then there was the bizarre drama with his excuses for his poor play. In July he offered up that he was having discipline problems with God and quitting chewing tobacco and that was why he couldn't focus. Weird. Then came the whole too much caffeine and dizziness stuff which no one had ever heard of before. Like I've said before, it's always something with Josh and usually something weird. Fans get enough of the excuses after a while.

Lastly, and most pertinent to the booing, was his complete lack of effort and competitiveness. Fans can only watch someone stroll up to the plate, hack at the first 3 pitches no matter what, then stroll back to the dugout with a smile on his face so much before it upsets them. Is that lackadaisical plate approach indicative of someone who cares or who is trying his best? We've seen enough from Hamilton over the years to know that is nowhere near his best effort. 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts on a total of 8 pitches. That is ridiculous. Mike Napoli sees 8 pitches many times in one at-bat. And therein lies the difference. Fans will always get behind a struggling player if they know he's battling. There is a major difference between Napoli taking pitches, fighting them off, showing discipline, and ultimately striking out and Josh swinging at the first 3 pitches in the dirt and casually laughing it off as he strides back to the dugout.

What part of Josh's play over the last half of this year deserved praise? The multitude of careless given-away at-bats? Even Nolan Ryan called him out on that. The lazy effort in the field and missed routine fly ball in Oakland? When was the last time you saw Josh Hamilton sprint down to first and slide head-first to beat out a throw? When was the last time you saw him stretch or dive to catch a ball in the outfield? We've all seen what level of effort he is capable of when his heart is in the game.

And THAT right there is why Josh has gone from most beloved player on the team to the only one getting booed. He transformed from a humble hustling redemption story to a lazy, apathetic, and often times arrogant headache in the matter of one season.

Furthermore, you might want to learn not to take the high horse approach around here so often. You were so quick to chide others for being "chicken littles", often times at the slightest hint of dissatisfaction with the team. Turns out those "chicken littles" knew a bit more than you did this time around. And you are no more of a true fan of this team than any of the other posters on here. Some people just need to vent more than others. So if Romeo calls for Wash to be fired or if Tuley says "f you Josh", it doesn't mean they aren't just as loyal to the team as you. People treat disappointment differently. Those who saw early on that the sky was indeed falling are still on here posting about what they'd like to see next season, so it would seem as though they're still strong Rangers supporters.

Irony was it was CD's single in the top of the 6th that moved JJ Hardy to 3b so he could score on Adam Jones sac fly with the winning run.

Just a CD single did it. Good for him.

Darren O'Day was excellent. Good for him too.

It was nice to see some guys we always liked do well.

Yep, I thought the same thing. I always rooted for Crash to get it together. I wanted him to work out here. I liked the guy. I was happy for O'day pitching well too. When he came iwas pitching I couldn't get that parity to the Ole Ole song that is played in the 10 secong mark of the below video that the crowd used to sing when he came in the game.

Disclaimer: I'm not defending the guy.

I think the Rangers will offer what they think is fair in terms of money and years, knowing him and the risks. He will get offered more money and years from other teams, no doubt. I believe all the contracts will be riddled with stipulations he has to meet.

His confort level is here obviously and despite what happened recently I believe he would still like to play here. If Rangers fans are booing him imagine what a Yankee Stadium crowd would do to him?

Other teams are going to be very hesitant on signing him with his history and the future unknown looming in their minds.

Like him or not, over the long haul he's the heartbeat of the batting order and puts pressure on the other teams pitcher's by just having his name pencilied on to the line up card.

Bottom line is, how many guys can swing and miss at that many pitches, look like a pitcher swinging the bat, bat under .200 for two months of the season and not be that far away from putting up triple crown like numbers?

Thats not being hypocritical, thats what a true fan does. We dont accept failure and cope with being a crappy team, we expect a higher level of play and push our team to win as best we can. When a guy who is suppose to put his team on his back in the most important games of the season just completely gives up, looks like he has a lack of effort, goes 0-4 on 8 pitches without even seeing a called ball, makes an inexcusable error and laughs at, already looks like his head is for a different team, makes all the excuses in the world as to why he is playing bad.....yeah, he absolutely deserved those boos, but you are right about one thing, us TRUE fans dont deserve this team, we deserved the team that should have easily won the West title and should have been playing in the ALDS.

Agreed with everything you had written...except this. When jaar comes around every season (and numerous times during each of them) whenever the team is struggling.....I guess it was about time the blind squirrel finds a nut.


As for the booing... sorry... no. I dont see the logic in booing your star player that had given his all during his tenure here. (except the last couple of weeks). Was I frustrated with him? Yes. Was I fed up with it all? Yes. Do I believe he could have put forth more of an effort the last few weeks? Yes!!!!
But i'm not going to BOO him... Hell, without Josh - there's a good chance the team would not have been where they were the past few seasons.

I'll put it to you this way.... would everyone boo Dirk if he just looked "done" a few weeks before the season was over? Or would Dirk get a pass b/c he actually did something for the team?

FWIW, you need to learn to read...or figure out reading comprehension. I said you have to live with the bad/down times. If all you're doing is cheering on the good times and booing the bad....then you are the definition of a bandwagoner. Teams have ups and downs....players do as well. You have to take the good with the bad.
