Trying to defend Young at this point is pointless and stupid, look at the numbers, I can't believe even you would support him at this point

The man is the WORST everyday player in the majors, and would be worse if he played defense regularly

Open your eyes, today should've been an announcement that Oswalt was going to the bullpen and Young was occupying a seat on the pine

not trying to defend Young just couldn't believe anyone would consider Soto, Gonzo or Snyder dh'ing or using our only other OF'er in that role. i wish we had made a move on adding a quality bench player so we could have some reasonable alternative to Young but we don't have that option so you go with the best DH option you've got.

HA, Murphy/Cruz/Hamilton could've DH'ed and Gentry could and should've played CF

Gentry was the only hitter I was referring to

Snyder also plays OF could've been an OFer off the bench

And Soto is the backup catcher now not YT

haven't got used to Soto so i screwed up on him & Torrealba being swapped

But what do you do with the Face of the franchise? Sit him? PH duties only. Dugout cheerleader? I really don't know, but baseball-wise, he really brings nothing to the field anymore, relative to his pay grade and other MLB players..

AT this point, I don't care if they send him into the sun, DFA, release him, or put his butt on the bench for the ocassional AB or spot start for resting players

All seem like options to me, no one is going to take him, he shouldn't be playing and we'll have to pay him whether we trade him (no one will take that contract), release him or put him on the bench

I'd even be willing to put him on the bench for several days and then hopefully that lights a fire under his butt and he comes back firing

If he's getting his money I'd rather have the option of getting something out of him potentially

He's NOT the best DH option, Brandon Snyder is ALSO plays OF so Gentry is NOT the only OFer on the bench

Snyder is an infielder who occasionally plays a very weak RF. i like how you're so willing to weaken the team at fielding positions just to get one player out of the batting order

Actually any OF with Gentry starting is far superior defensively, no matter who DHs, you're talking someone MAYBE PHing, and then MAYBE playing one inning of defense

Yes I'd rather weaken the bench and go with the superior starting lineup offensively AND defensively, What a concept!

Napoli C
Moreland 1st
Kinsler 2b
Andrus ss
Beltre 3b
Hamilton lf
gentry cf
cruz rf

that leaves a bench of Gonzo, Murphy, Snyder, Soto & Young. you don't use your extra OF'er as a DH so that leaves a choice of Gonzo, Snyder, Soto or Young to fill the DH spot.

If an emergency pops up, Snyder can play OF, he's not as "weak" as you make him out to be, his numbers have been very defensive neutral

Point is, Young is a black hole in the lineup, and Murphy is an upgrade at this point, even against LHPs

i see his point but until the Rangers have a better option than Soto, Gonzo & Snyder his point is moot.

you put your best 8 on the field and then your DH is the best of your bench options. until they have a better option i put Young at DH and maybe when teams start putting players on the waiver wire i look for a replacement for him.
