I'm just glad we don't have to look at Trout's meathead smirking face anymore for a little while.

There's no reason we can't keep the offense going through the weekend... all 3 scheduled Royals starters have ERA's higher than 5.

Again, Nathan had to work a very long inning last night and struggled mightily. I see no reason why Ron should have him in there tonight in a 7-run non-save situation.

I didn't think so either at first but would you feel confortable with anybody else coming in from the bullpen to start the 9th? Then maybe letting up 3 or 4runs and then have to call Nathan in with runners on base and all the pressure of blowing this game like the Angels blew last night's.

Just getting the first out was huge with that 7 run lead.

Washington had to have this game and he took no chances, that's why I think he went right to Nathan.

i missed the game, did the error cost us?

Thankfully no. Izturis led off he 8th and Adams jammed him and forced him to hit a fairly weak grounder to Young at 2B. Young had to go about 3 feet to his left, but he was so slow in getting across that he failed to get in front of the ball and square up on it. The ball hit the heel of his glove but he couldn't come up with it. Thankfully Adams was locked in tonight and then retired Trout, Hunter, and Pujols with ease.

I actually just would have stuck with Adams there. His pitch count was still low and he had really good stuff working in the 8th. I understand the whole getting Joe his confidence back reason, and I also know Wash wanted to ensure the win. But even as Nathan was warming up I was saying that putting him in would be risky. Nathan had a long nightmare inning the night before and would be coming into a non-save situation. In a must-win type scenario like that where it's not a save opportunity, I'd rather have the guy who just made the Angels best hitters look bad the inning before close out the game for me than the guy who got shelled in a really long inning the night before. In other words, stick with the guy who you already know is on fire tonight rather than risk a repeat performance from Nathan. Luckily, even though Nathan made it interesting, it didn't matter in the end.

I disagree. Adams is a one inning pitcher if there is one.

I agree w/Romeo. Adams is a 1 inning pitcher.

Adams got in trouble early in the season when he got too much use and his pitch count per inning soared. Didn't recover until he was given several days off in a row. TEX cannot afford for Adams get tired ... especially with Ogando still trying to get back up to speed and with Uehara still out.

Nathan was in there to put aside his poor showing the night before so the next time he goes out he does so with good memory of his last outing.

i know most of the offense looked better last night, but that ground rule double Josh hit looked like old-school Josh. That ball looked like it just stopped right over the plate and he decided once it was already on him to go ahead and swing. His bat speed was definitely on display on that swing.

He said he has stopped thinking so much, stopped listening to everything and just going to go up there and react. With his talents, that is what he needs to do.

that's good but that's what quality pitching does when a team mate screws up. the pitcher sucks it up and gets them out of the situation. unfortunately the night before Yu didn't do that.
