young needs to tag up on that deep fly ball by murph. the ball was obviously either going to be caught or a homerun. not very good baserunning there
Fuck you Napoli.
I clicked back over to the game just in time to see Nap pop out with yet another RISP.
First off, how the hell did we score 3 in that inning after doing nothing all game long?
Second. Nap has go to go. he is an absolute pile of shit at the plate. And his work behind the plate isn't near as good as it was last year, or even as good as it was two months ago. The fact that he has been voted an all-star is a fucking joke, and a travisity to some/any more deserving catcher that wasn't selected to be an all-star.
Napoli has been awful for about the last month or so, but you guys are being way too hard on him. This whole "he sucks, he doesn't even care" stuff is ridiculous. Napoli has given several interviews saying that he's trying everything he can to get out of this massive slump. He said that he is just not seeing the ball well at all right now and his timing is way off. He is a liability right now for sure, and it looks like his struggles at the plate are even starting to affect his defensive play.
But we've all see what a great hitter he can be when he's hot. You don't just give up on someone who is capable of being that dangerous. You bench poor hitters when they're slumping. But with good and/or streaky hitters, you have to let them try to swing their way out of it (especially when your only other option is Torrealba). Cruz was 0 for forever at the end of last season and in the ALDS, but he finally slugged his way out of it and went on a major tear in the ALCS. Napoli will too in time.

The problem is, what we are seeing this year is consistent with what he has traditionally put out. This year's slump isn't the anomoly in his career, his performance in the second half of last year was.
