Feliz to the 60 day DL (40 man roster spot) , Koji to the 15 day DL (strained lat) (to put on 25 man)

Per Jamey, Lonestar Ball, and John Blake...

Justin Grimm to start on Saturday - Lone Star Ball

I know the kid has been lights out in AA...but to burn an option yr of his for a handful of starts...seems a bit hasty.

Who else would you start? Ross could probably do the job, but why further deplete the bullpen? Grimm could pull a Matt Moore on Houston because nobody has ever seen him of his stuff is good enough. It will be a start I'll definitely watch.

Probably Kirkman...or I might have given Perez a look.

Both already on the 40 man. And both are lefties (which Houston hits worst against (something like .220))...

Perez has been horrible. No way I'd call him up right now.

In all fairness, Grimm should have already been in AAA by now, yeah you burn that option sooner than you want to, but its probably the right move, once again I'll trust JD & Co. on this one

Looking forward to seeing him pitch... even though I'll actually be out of town at the river when he does, might have to try and DVR it

You have to wonder if he might be available in a big trade for a torp this year.

I'm thikning this as well, or they are afraid to hurt any value Perez may have right now.

I am thinking that not only is Grimm the most deserving but he is also pretty mature and coachable which I think is paramount with this staff. He pitched 3 years in college with very mediocre results but has the stuff to compete at the highest level. Now that they've ironed out his delivery and added the 3rd pitch he has morphed into a very fine prospect similar to Ross. You've got to think that he follows the game plans laid out and does what the coaches tell him to do. That is why, very shortly, he is going to be a big league pitcher.

Honestly, I've always been a fan of Feldman but he isn't going to get his act together this season and he is gone ASAP. This move just solidifies that stance. Grimm may not be completely polished but he'll probably make 2 starts maybe more before being optioned down to AAA.

At first I thought it was a curious move but Neftali isn't going to be ready for a long time and Holland has got to get his strength back, which may take a few more weeks. If Grimm can come in and pitch well he may NOT ever have to go back down but even if optioned he is going to be available for the whole season and the way Ranger pitchers have went this season they really need for him to be available.

As usual, I think this is a very smart, very prescient move by the front office. Really, this FO makes very few mistakes and they really have all of their contingencies planned out well in advance. I am expecting this young man to do very well and to be a contributor from here on out even if it at AAA as rotation depth and insurance.

I think he is rotation depth and insurance for this season and beyond. I don't think they make this kind of move for advertising. Often, these pitching prospects have much more value when they are dominating AA than at any other time. If they wanted to trade him they'd have left him in AA and pointed to his eye popping stats. They still may trade him but I think they are very high on the young man and are telling all of their prospects in the process that if you work hard, improve and make the adjustments we want then we'll reward you.
