We've never won a game in S.F. Hopefully tonight will be the night we end the losing streak! So far it looks good for us!

Rangers @ Giants Series Thread

Didnt see a thread already started for this weekend's series, so I thought I'd get one going. So far, so good tonight. Harrison looking very sharp and the hitting looks much more Rangers-esque. Of course no Posey, no Cabrera, and facing Barry Zito always helps.

Funny because I just saw yours and was thinking that I didn't remember seeing it when I started mine.

Without Posey and Cabrera, this Giants lineup is about as weak as it gets. Blanco, Theriot, Schierholtz, Pill, Pagan... bad. Plus it's good to see the universe turned right side up again, one in which mediocre hitters actually hit like mediocre hitters. I was getting tired of seeing the likes of Cliff Pennington and Colin Cowgill battering our pitchers.

Their lineup was reminding me of the get-away day lineups that Wash would use a couple of years ago. It's pretty weak!

Hopefully Michael Young is coming around a little bit!

I know this has been said numerous times on here, but it bears repeating: Torrealba flat-out stinks. I guess I shouldn't be expecting too much from him though since he's already picked up his 1 RBI for the month. I miss Chad Kreuter.

We got lucky avoiding Cain and Bumgarner. Vogelsong is beatable and Lincecum has been absolutely awful all year.

Torrealba is bad but we have no choice but to let him play 1/3 of the games. Gotta keep Napoli fresh.

Yeah, Napoli needs to stay healthy and well-rested. I just wish Jon Daniels had listened to the others around him who wanted to trade Torrealba in the offseason and sign Pudge to a veteran minimum contract to serve as backup. I'm pretty sure a 40 year-old Pudge could perform at least as well as Torrealba has at a fraction of the cost.

Great, great game! What a gem by Harrison! When he is on, he can be downright dominant. Plus the hitting returned. I think Gentry has earned the start tomorrow against Vogelsong... 5 for 5 with all 5 hit hard. Hopefully the offense can keep this up against a better pitcher tomorrow. We can't buy a win against minor league teams like Seattle and Oakland yet we go in and win one in easy fashion in a stadium where we were previously winless. Go figure.

Even against the double-A Giants tonite, Harrison looked dominant. And the offense cranked out 14 hits. Good all-around win for Texas and first in SF since the 90s.

So why in the world is Feldman getting the start tomorrow. There has got to be someone in the minors who could spot start for us. He has looked as bad as a pitcher can look recently and doesn't deserve another start for Texas. I suppose the Giants offense is so poor that maybe he does alright, but wow he has looked awful lately.

I am so proud of Matt Harrison.

I was hard on him but he turned it up lately.

Kudos to him.

I would have to say he has been the best Ranger pitcher over the last few weeks and were going to need him to stay consistent. Was hoping we did not have bring feldman back again to start, but M.Perez and N.Ramirez have been bad to awful at Round Rock.
Also Oswalt got roughed up in his last start at RR as well. Really do not expect much from him to begin with. Maybe we can get a few quality starts from him, but I think Daniels and Ryan are going to have to make a trade to get a quality starter.
Its going to be awhile for Holland to get back that muscle he has lost from his stomach issues(virus) which is why he had lost some of his velocity. Do we really know what to expect from Feliz when he does come back or when that will even be?

I've been telling you guys the whole time what a solid pitcher Harrison is. He's going to have his bad games, but he is as consistent as it gets for the most part.

Also, not too worried about Oswalt getting knocked around a little in his last start. In the bigs the emphasis is about pitching to win, in the minors it's about working on stuff sometimes the opposing hitters don't always get the memo. They knew he was working on getting his fastball velocity up and throwing them for strikes so they jumped on his first pitch a lot.

who are these "others around him" that you claim wanted to trade Torrealba and sign Pudge? i know a bunch on here wanted that but i don't remember reading about anyone in Daniels' inner circle pushing that

Nervous doesn't begin to describe it for me. With Feldman on the mound I'd say I'm nauseous.

I'm hoping for 4 good innings from Feldman - maybe allowing only a run or two. Then pitch Ross for 2. And Lowe/Scheppers/Uehara/Adams/Nathan for the remaining bit.

Fortunately Harrison's awesome performance gave the entire bullpen a day of much needed rest.
