The Flyers have raided Nashville every since the team exsisted. It's a joke. The Flyers got Hartnell & Timmonen for scraps. The Predators lost Suter, they weren't about to let Weber go. Their ownership said they were willing to spend to the cap ceiling. They had every right to match the contract. If the Flyers wanted Weber so bad they shouldn't have made it clear in the contract that Weber couldn't be traded in year 1. The day I feel sorry for the Flyers will NEVER come.:D:

also read, got hartnell and timmonen's rights for the predators 1st round pick that was acquired by the flyers previously for one peter forsberg.

dont blame the flyers for forsberg's foot being a rick dipietro special, or the fact that the flyers were able to sign guys when they traded for their rights, as being 'raided'.

poile and holmgren are good friends, for all we know, poile asked holmgren to do that so that weber would actually sign a long term deal that could keep him in nashville, instead of refusing to do it because it was nashville.

I understand your Flyers hate, god if I loved a team whose owner never spent money I'd hate everyone else too :ss:

My point was, that if any part of Nashville's decision was based on them expecting a rollback in salary & they're currently holding the agreement process up because of that then they're just creating more problems for everyone .

sounds like things just blew the fuck up

I know its Larry Brooks but isnt he a PA friendly reporter?

Larry Brooks ‏@NYP_Brooksie
Told that PA proposed that players get last year's share plus 5 pct this yr regardless of schedule length/actual revenue...

Larry Brooks ‏@NYP_Brooksie
Last year's share was 1.883B...plus 5 pct would be $1.977B...would likely eat 65-67 pct of revenue in 66-68 game season.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Told NHL willing to guarantee $211 million as part of Make Whole to players... NHLPA doesn't agree with league's model or $$...not good day
Both sides still far apart on player contracts issues. NHL still wants same changes. NHLPA says no way; feels 50-50 HRR is a huge concession

This is going to be a mess tonight. Accusation that Fehr withheld NHL's offer from PA is very serious. Would expect that to be addressed publicly after conference call. Info was not included in Fehr memo last night, but one player says it was because they knew it would be leaked and didn't want specific details of offers going public.

Hopefully the majority gets the details, say that want a season, and fire Fehrs ass on the spot.

Up until the NHL's latest proposal, I have been on the players side. At this point, whether it is Fehr or the PA, the ball is in their court. I officially become pissed of at the players from this point on if a new agreement is not done soon.

Twitter is blowing up right now, sounds like the players want to be compensated for a full 82 game season even though they won't be playing 82 games.

/Only if Mr. Roarke suddenly becomes league commissioner

I realize this is Larry 'I get beat up at bus stops' Brooks, but if true, the PA is being led by a madman...

Edit: Sorry matty, didn't see your post above.

Hm.

Hard to figure out what side to come down on in that...

On one hand, the players didn't chose to be out salary. It's the owners that locked the doors.

But on the other hand, if a deal is made fast they could still get a 70 game season in. So that's a small percentage that they would be out if they paid for the games played. An 8 mil contract player would have to find a way to survive on 7 mil. Make this a sticking point and they number of possible games continues to dwindle.

The popular conspiracy theory making the rounds now is that the NHLPA wants to kill the season in the hopes that it will get rid of Bettman. Uh guys, that's not going to happen, the owners love Gary.

Michael Grange adds:

Per my last tweet: players seeking $1.883B plus 1.75% compounded over life of deal, last tweet not accurate. #nhl

So does this mean that they do want to be paid 100% of this season but to have it spread over the length of the CBA?

I think people need to calm the hell down at this point, so much information (and mis-information) being tweeted).

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Fehr says NHLPA doesn't feel it is as far apart on core economic issues as NHL says they are...

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Fehr also denies that he's not fully communicated any of the league's offers to his players
