Flyers owner Snider 'disappointed' season on hold - Yahoo! Sports Canada

''I'm awfully disappointed that we're not playing hockey, but there's not a thing I can do about it except just keep my fingers crossed and hope somehow it can come together,'' Snider said.

While I commend Mr. Snider on the refurbishing of ice rinks around Philly, the above statement rings just a tad hollow.

I guarantee u that no owner in the NHL wants hockey to be played more then Snider.

This really sounds like intentionally leaked rumours to make Fehr look bad and cause dissent in the union. Cheap move IMO, but by who?

also read, got hartnell and timmonen's rights for the predators 1st round pick that was acquired by the flyers previously for one peter forsberg.

dont blame the flyers for forsberg's foot being a rick dipietro special, or the fact that the flyers were able to sign guys when they traded for their rights, as being 'raided'.

poile and holmgren are good friends, for all we know, poile asked holmgren to do that so that weber would actually sign a long term deal that could keep him in nashville, instead of refusing to do it because it was nashville.

I don't blame the Flyers one bit for going after Weber. He fit a need for them. However to expect Nashville not to match the contract after losing Suter was a bit much. Weber got the contract he wanted. Whether thhe Flyers did Nashville a favor, we may never know.

I understand your Flyers hate, god if I loved a team whose owner never spent money I'd hate everyone else too :ss:

My point was, that if any part of Nashville's decision was based on them expecting a rollback in salary & they're currently holding the agreement process up because of that then they're just creating more problems for everyone .

I don't hate the Flyers. Trust me I get plenty of crap about my team from my family who are all Flyers fans.

I don't see how one team could possibly hold up a deal. Nashville can be out voted by the other teams. Besides I doubt the players will accept any deal involving rollbacks.

No they couldn't hold things up by themselves, but if ther were leading the group of teams complaianing about several financial issues containing. Nashville, Columbus, Florida, Phoenix, Carolina, Ottawa, New Jersey, Tampa, the Isles & any others it could be having a huge impact on negotiations.

I've stated before this is a very diverse ownership group, just as diverse as the markets that they're in. It's got to be near impossible I'm sure to get them all to agree on what is needed for the league to be successful and that's why I think they threw the first offer out there, they knew that would make them all money. Now they don't want as much money but want other concessions(liked delayed pay, restrictions on player negotiation rights, etc) while degrading the players for not moving at all. Does no one remember the last lock-out? 20%+ in rollbacks, a hard cap, etc. The players have been down this road before and I don't blame them for not believing the NHL for 1 second. If the NHL were that dedicated to equality they'd follow the NFL profit sharing plan of putting all the money in a pot and dividing it up by however many teams they have(32?), that way no one loses their ass.

Sorry if this is incoherrent, I may still be drunk from last night...

I'm holding those two dickheads personally responsible for the horsemen that just charged out of my linen closet. I pay extra money for an interdimensional portal to hell in my home, and what does it get me? Muddy horse tracks all over my carpet.

So the players have pretty strongly rebuffed this rumour that Fehr hasn't been transparent about the negotiating process. Looking more and more like the NHL is trying to sew dissent, without success, by starting rumours. Logan Couture had the funniest response:

Pierre LeBrun‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun

"@Logancouture: Breaking news! NHL sources claim Donald Fehr is the reason Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez break up!.."
