I'm pretty sure Day and Kelley had a screaming match after that game was over behind closed doors - which planted the seed that kelly would be gone after the season. that was a collosal OC fuck up.. I blame Kelly. I don't know WTF he was doing with his play calling in that game. OSU should have destroyed mich. Jeremiah Smith was only targeted once in the 4th quarter. Who can fucking explain that. The defense did their job IMO, holding the skunk weasels to only 13 points, which was respectable.

so you are correct. OSU actually beat themselves. What happened in that game offensively was unexplainable.
Not sure if true but have heard Howard had a concussion and wasn't right yet. Either way, nothing he did throwing in that game (other than a couple minutes end of half) screamed throw more.

It's in your face cheating. there is nothing to debate about. and what makes no sense, is, IF osu vacated wins and had bowl bans because a couple players sold their stupid gold pants charms THEY owned, how the hell does mich. not get discipline for what they did that actually wAS cheating...........
According to some of these posters, Michigan should NOT be penalized harshly because "innocent" Michigan players would be punished based off of what happened a few years ago.

That literally makes no sense and is detachment from reality.

If the father of a family is found guilty of embezzlement, he will more than likely have to pay a fine and potentially go to jail for his crimes. Why are a wife and children punished for the crimes they had nothing to do with? They will be impacted finalicially and there will be no father in the home. Savings, college savings, mortgage payments will all be impacted. It happens everyday in this country.

I have yet to see a Michigan fan provide a reasonable punishment of what the NCAA should do. The two comedians here have mentioned a fine and scholly reduction I believe. Feel free to check me on that.

How in the world does that punishment fit the crime? It doesn't and they know it. A scholarship reduction is still punishing "innocent" players because the team will not have the same amount of talent available due to the reduction AND players who want to come to Michigan can't come unless they are walk ons.

That is how punishments go: they punish the perpetrator and serve as a deterent. If Michigan gets off with next to nothing, then why would other schools abide by a rule that is not really enforced? We would then have thousands of Connor Stallions and Matt Weisss hacking into databases and dressing in glasses and mustache to spy on other teams. Why wouldn't you? You can win a national championship and get a wrist slap if caught.

I am not understanding the arguement from rjshull about punishment.

If innocent players should NOT be punished, then what was the appropriate punishment for Penn St? Some of those players were in diapers possibly when the tragedy occured. Should the NCAA never punish current teams/athletic departments for the transgressions of a former staff/players?

How does that serve as a deterent and curb any rule breaking if the current staff/athletic department simply throws their hands up and says "we weren't there"? In UMs case, the AD is still there and the HC was there as well. It would be a terrible look if the NCAA simply folds and provides a strongly worded letter to UM and threatens them if they do it again.

What annoys me is how UM downplays what happened and what was happening with Stallions. I know posters are tired of me saying this but this is very similar to the Astros scandal. The Astros owner even said that the illegal system "didnt affect" the game. That is a lie and he knew it.
UM fans claiming that the sign stealing was widespread and didn't impact games is a lie as well...they also know it.

The NCAA needs to make the right call here.
I said the same thing during the PSU scandal. Those kids did nothing wrong and had to pay the price.

and there hasn't been a more clearer picture of a team cheating, (and the players KNEW what was going on)......... than the SMU scandal of the 80s.

if the NCAA does nothing OSU needs to reinstate all wins.

and we all need to get into Deloreans and replay the 2012 postseason with OSU included.

Not only that....got a ban despite NCAA knowing what they did and still let them play in the Sugar Bowl.
and let's not forget.......... OSU got double screwed, because in Meyer's first year, 2012, he had an incredible team. and very possibly gone all the way winning a natty....... but bowl ban.

Exactly....if UM gets off with slap we need to replay that postseason. Pretty sure would have been us and ND in the natty.

To my knowledge, the NCAA meets with UM today and tomorrow and a ruling will be provided in 45 days right?

Throw the book at them?

And you will never see any ann arbor fans suggest a reasonable punishment for their team.

In maze 'n blew land they ain't done wrong enough to deserve a proper punishment.

Personally I think a good punishment would be to bring back Brady Hoke.

Didn't have the concussion until the game and guessing if this happened and he thought one was ready he'd have made the switch.

You are in denial that the title is still valid even though the team cheated and had an unfair advantage in 2023.

I can't believe you don't understand that concept.

Continue to respond with clownfaces and rainbows. That is how I know I won.
Nope that’s not a win, that’s the NCAA already saying it is a valid championship. The fact that they are not going to vacate wins no matter what your feelings tell you

Yet they got him for kids getting free tats and ignored all the other more severe allegations (lies) you mention?
Did you even read what was said about then? Not now, then. No one EVER said it was tats other than idiotic fans. Ohio, the NCAA, Tressel himself said it was more than tats. A decade worth of paying players, 50+ free cars, drugs, resulted in 1 year of vacated contracts wins. Only imbeciles try and change history

massive fine and multiple show causes but did nothing wrong?

Hell, I'm not even saying title or games need to be vacated but to hide your head in the sand as though not a worthy punishment? OSU was stripped of wins AND had a year of probation because players got some free tattoos.
It wasn’t tats you moron. I posted a SI article laying out what happened, what ohio admitted, what the NCAA infraction committee agreed with, yet here you are trying to deny it.

And at what point did I ever say Michigan did nothing wrong? If you actually think then then prove it. Everything I have said over the past 2 years is that they have done what is claimed. But the claimed is not to the level of vacated wins. Connor has the CMU game, Minter, Clink are recruiting issues, Moore is deleted text, and Jim is failure to control his guys. None of which rises to the level of the mythical hammer.

Hate? That’s funny, I haven’t hated ohio since a kid I have known since he was about 5 went and won a championship with Tressel.

Without a doubt hate. And I see what yer sayin' special fella. You're jealous of your one time friend and hate Ohio State for it.

Sorry bud, the only one who lied is you. Maybe, just maybe you should actually go back and read the actual articles written during that time, and not the revisionist crap coming out of Columbus. Maybe, just maybe start with this.

This has absolutely nothing to do with JH getting so desperate to win he stared cheating. Your attempt at deflection is a complete failure.

But I like your maze 'n blew dedication. You don't want to talk about what JH knowingly did to win (cheated) so all you can do is bring up Ohio State mistakes from the past. Good for you. Will you be around for the upcoming CFB season? I hope so, the CFB threads need interesting people like you.

After that game, I said "Ryan Day had better win the championship if he wants to keep his job"... I think that's exactly what happened.
