Pratt and Wilson were playing at much higher levels when he was around.

I thought Wilson was ok before he went down to injury.

Pratt wasn't terrible - but his coverage skills certainly looked to take a step back. Hard to say if it was scheme, age, or just an off year. His tackles were good, but often 7+ yard down field. If they decided to get more athletic at LB, and find a more pure cover LB - I wouldn't be sad to see him cut. Good run, but this past year left a sour taste in my mouth with him in space. A LOT of missed tackles/gaps.

new name for our defense: the golden girls
MY wife thought that was funny as hell, she loves The Golden Girls. I mentioned maybe Golden Guys might be more appropriate, and she got defensive and said why? They play like a bunch of damn women! hahahahaha

So Golden left the Bengals for the Irish a few days after losing the Super Bowl and now has left the Irish for the Bengals a few days after losing the Natty.

Just to point out - the 2 years in which Bengals had at least a top 15 defense in Points Allowed - they reached the SB and AFCC Game.

Give Burrow just a medium defense - mediocre - just give that offense enough to work with without having to score 30+ points to win games, and Burrow will lead this offense.

The fact that Lou couldn't sustain at least a top 15ish defense is mind-boggling considering the resources they used in the draft. Maybe a guy here or there won't pan out - but if you miss on every sing guy (and I don't think they did, I think they got good talent that didn't fit the scheme) - as the DC - you own a lot of that. You are in that room picking those guys. So, either you drafted guys who didn't fit what you did, drafted guys who weren't very good, or drafted guys and failed to develop them. No matter how you slice it - that falls on you.

Stat I came across....makes you sad for last year, but also kind of gives you an idea of where the defense needs to be. It doesn't need a HUGE jump...it doesn't have to be top 10. It just needs to not suck....lol

In their 8 losses last season, the Bengals gave up 34 ppg & scored 28 ppg.

Teams scoring 28 ppg were 140-22 last season. 36% of those 22 losses belonged to the Bengals. Brutal.

Didn't want to start a new thread...but if this keeps up, the Bengals might actually have some kind of NFL scouting department...I mean, it won't matter when they nickle and dime every player at some point, but hey...

Bengals announce three additions to the team’s player personnel department with the hiring of Josh Hinch and Tyler Ramsey as scouts, and the hiring of Trey LaBounty as scouting research analyst.

They did lose one earlier this offseason - So, they are up 2..... Should we order the rings? And, when we order the rigns we have to budget for two extra rings now that the staff has increased. Take that out of the money we have reserved for Trey.

Probably negotiated that rings would come from one of those old .25c machines...

Katie will ask Hamilton County pay for those. Gotta get that first round reach of a DE signed for below market value after all.

Wouldn't be shocked if they negotiated that the rings would be deducted from their salary - players included...
