"In the early goings of OTAs, Williams has been taking a majority of the first team reps at running back. There are a lot of bodies in the room for the Cowboys, and it's still early to tell how the Cowboys' rushing attack will shape out."

The negative is of course he wasn't really very good the last two years. The positive he just turned 25 last month so even at year end he'll still just be 25 and he was really fantastic when he first burst onto the scene. I love all the talk about energy we are hearing. After fat ass McCarthy who seemed lost and no different from the guy who disappeared during practice in GB to get massages. we need this team to take on a new feeling of urgency. Man I can't wait for pads to come on and for the physicality our OC preaches to really start.

Man I really think he could end up being our starting 1T if we dont add someone else. Osa already plays a ton of snaps, and they will go racecar a lot in passing situations since Eberflus doesn't blitz as much, so Williams or Kneeland some on 3rd and longs beside Osa? Best case would be Mazi taking a leap, but that's a wish, not a realistic projection

you know what helps when we want to be aggressive with DTs. A badass MLB. It covers the surprise runs.

I know, I know. I'll go stand in the corner & shut up. :becky:

Preaching to the choir. I knew we weren't taking Warren so I wanted Kenneth Grant at 12, I will stand by that being a mistake. A badass DT is harder to find than a good guard. Booker is a good one though.
We do have one badass OLB, just laid up.
Philly and Washington, to their credit, both added stud LBs

Much too small and hasn't been a good run stopper. Best position is DT in nickel situations just like Osa. That was the problem with the pick. Really good rotational piece on some teams, but for us didn't give us what we needed most. If we had a stud run stopping NT I would have loved bringing him in, but the second I saw the move I knew we weren't going to do much else at DT and as you can see, we didn't.

I hope JT shines in camp. Mazi needs to be pushed. I see something in JT.

Hope so. I'm in the minority but the guy I see most likely to play a role there is Rogers from last year.

Yeah, that's how sad it is, as undersized as he iss he would be better than Mazi. I think Booker will be a big upgrade over Hoffman. I think Grant would have been a night and day upgrade over Mazi

I would have been fine if we took Grant (Nolan was the DT they supposedly almost took over Booker) but I am happier with Booker looking back. Since they didn't get the RB they targeted in the 2nd round this was a way to help both the run game and the pass game and was about as "Dak friendly" as the could get. If they didn't trade for Pickens and didn't upgrade the OL the Offense would really have struggled I think. Plus Dak is about as fragile as it gets right now of all of the starting QBs so OL hopefully keeps him from another season ending injury.

That's the point on WR. No we didn't take a pass catcher...the Pickens deal was in place BEFORE the draft. So they knew it wasn't a need.
Nolan is a beast, but overkill with Osa and Soloman at 3T and trash on the Nose. Grant, to me, would mean constant double teams on the NT and a lot more 3rd and long, which would play to our strength the pass rush. My concern right now with the bend dont break Tampa 2 is that teams may do just like last year and run it between the tackles till we are worn out

I just can't wait to see what Adams and Riley can do with this kid and the OL in general. He was a disaster last year but he never should have been on the field. On another team he would have been a backup, but in Dallas that's not the way we do things with our first rounders even if they aren't ready. If they can clean up his technique he will be better but he obviously needs to be a lot better just t play over guys like Richards and a couple of the veteran FAs we brought in. I keep having to tell myself to tap the breaks with Adams. He can't possibly be as good of a hire as I think he will be. But, I can't think of an OL in the NFL more in need of good coaching. Two second year guys (one who was horrible and one who played center for the first time), a rookie RG, Tyler who while elite is still young and Steele who has been inconsistent and got a little sloppy at times the last couple of years. Top 10 OL potential is there for this season and for certain in a couple of years. Time will tell.

I like this YouTube guy, Usually these are rah rah pieces from guys who have no clue what they are talking about. He is a still little too much of a fan in some of his opinions, but you can ignore those. This is long but if you are bored. Mostly about Guyton. If nothing else go to the 5:25 mark and watch how he shows Guyton leaning in on a DE that is trying to turn the corner on him. Technique doesn't get worse than that in pass protection. A good Edge rusher will either use speed to go right around you or use a swim move to use your momentum to pull you in and go right passed you to the QB if you do that. This team is just so far down from a technique perspective across the board and IMO that all started with clueless McCarthy.

I think the great news for Guyton is, if he wants to be a player, these guys will coach him up. He can turn it around. But they aren't putting up with that diva shit from last year. No way

Not good last year and coming off major neck injury. Pass. I'm not sure he will be ready to start the season? I haven't followed since he was cut though, so I could be wrong

He was hurt last year, only played four games. He had 152 tackles the year before and 158 the year before that.
Schmoopy wants a badass MLB. I dont know if Mosely can be that again, but he sure as heck was pre injury

I think the coaching staff has some kinda plan with whats in the building. I am just at just wait & see how that turns out at the moment. (LB & DT)
a dog is sitting on a tiled floor in a kitchen .
a cartoon cat is standing in a hallway looking at something .

knowing I may have to wait until next year to attack the middle of the defense (if things dont turn out)

Honestly, I have no problem with not signing anyone else and rolling with what they have. This coaching staff has been impressive so far. As I said before the draft, go back to BPA instead of need and within a couple of years we can be back to where we want to be. At least they should know without question going into next year exactly where we are at DT, LT and RB. We aren't winning a Super Bowl thos year, but after last seasons detour, it feels like we are back on the path to competing for one
