Giants 40-man roster stands at 38. One of those spots will be taken by Jerar when he comes off the 60 day IL. The other would make a ton of sense for Whisenhunt if they need someone to start games for JV should he go on the IL. He’d be available on normal rest.

While you may be right, I would rather see Harry get back in the rotation and then call up Jelly to add depth to the rotation. I don’t want to start Whiz’s clock too soon.

Well, a couple of things:
1. The decision, IMO will be Harry or Whiz. If it's a 2 start deal, I think I'd rather see Whiz as he's stretched out and Harry isn't and is simply pitching better right now. The league has seen Harry, it hasn't seen Whiz.
2. I'm not concerned about starting Whiz' clock, and I doubt the Giants are either. He appears to be ready for the show. It'd be a nice treat for him.

I'm still very bullish on Harry, and Bird, and Roupp, and Whiz. The future is pretty bright.

Final thought on Whiz and his clock:

He has a full season in AAA already under his belt and is 24. His option years would cover his age 24-26 seasons. If he can’t establish himself as a full time major leaguer in that time you’re going to be looking to move on anyway.

I know its waaaaay too early but thinking about the trading deadline, I'd like to target Tucker and Bellinger if either Chubbs or Yankass fall out of it.

Tucker, even as a rental, would likely cost Eldridge.

I meant that we can negotiate with him in November instead of trading for him in August.
Sure. That is also how rentals work.

If we could get Tucker from the Cubs for just something like Beck+ or something similar (Sugastay and Tibbs??), and we are within 5 games of 1st and in a STRONG WC position, I would consider that.

Giants in rumors talking to the Nats about Nathaniel Lowe.

It has come to this.
Well, sure, he's hitting better than Wade. Who isn't? Villar would have been an upgrade had he been given the playing time. Not advocating for Villar so much as pointing out that Lowe's OPS+ puts him 4 points below league average. If the Giants are going to give up minor leaguers for an "upgrade" at 1st base then they should do better than this.

To Be Fair a bad bat would be better than terribad bat. But still don't like the Idea of wasting a valued prospect for anything other than at least a bit better than league average for the position in a trade.

I doubt we would feel the cost of a guy like Lowe…
