If Briere does this right he could really end up with the smallest team in the entire league!

Heh, probably not the right graphic. The difference between the smallest team and the 5th biggest team is 1" and 8lbs. So, almost nothing.

Las highlights it a little better. York isn't tiny at 6'0 195lb, but he's not physical. Drysdale at 5'11 185 is getting pretty small and is also not physical. Andrae plays more physical but is tiny at 5'9 180. Sanheim, Seeler, and Risto have the size and at least good enough skating. But the final 4 teams are monsters on the back end. Jones, Ekblad, Mikkola, and Forsling are all 6'0 200 at least. Jones, Ekblad, and Mikkola are all 6'4+. Edmonton is similar, even with Ekholm injured. Stars are even bigger. Canes are a little smaller, but still 200ish for their top 4 TOI guys. (Still would've drafted Buium, but size is a legit concern on the back-end)

And the other half is on offense. They have almost no net front presence these days. Couturier is pretty good and 6'4 210. But he shouldn't be the only guy at his age and with his back issues. The other big guys are Foerster who is more of a shooter, not a net front guy, and Tippett whose whole game is rush chances. The rest of their skill is small (Michkov, TK, Brink). Luchanko will also be relatively small. That, coupled with how passed on Buium who was pretty unanimously the most talented guy left last year because he was a smaller dman, makes me think they'd pass on Hagens too if he's there at 6. I'm OK with that if it's to take a falling Martone, a different center like O'Brien, or the big swing with McQueen. But I'll be really irritated if they do it to reach for Martin because he's super physical.

Gotta have size to win in the playoffs imho. Long series and big guys wear down the small guys. It’s all about physics.

Of course, you have to have enough speed with the big guys to hit the little guys

And this is the Florida Panthers right now. They are a machine and Bob may be the most clutch, big-game goalie in the world at the moment. They aren't going to just relinquish their Stanley Cup. Someone is going to have to take it from them and Carolina doesn't look like they are up to the task.

Perhaps if the Oilers and Stars don't kill each other, one of them may have enough gas left in the tank to provide a challenge, but I just don't see it right now.

The return of Ekblad and the acquisitions of Jones and Marchand are paying huge dividends for Florida too.

The man founded the team. I'm not about to shit on his grave, but you do you...Lol
Who cares? Philly would have always gotten a team by my time and they wouldn't have been such shit now.

Ed fucked up the Bob situation. We had a young goalie and he forced the GM to go sign some shithead instead. Now our young goalie is winning cups for others. They traded away young talent for two decades because that old dumb shit was in charge.

This would shake up our line up.
Just turned 28.

7 years 13M could be tough at the end, but maybe these guys are tired of sucking right now.

Wouldn't help us for McKenna, but since the lottery is rigged I guess it doesn't matter.

If that's the contract he gets more power to whoever signs him hopefully it wont be us. We would better off waiting until next year and open the free agent flood gates for McDavid.

If he gets there and loses in the finals again, it will be harder to keep him around when he becomes a free agent. He'll be like LeBron and go somewhere else.

Right wing may be the only position that is not needed. Not sure what they could get for Tippett and or Brink, and I think TK does play LW as well.

In the article it says if we got Marner that Tippett or Foerster would probably be traded for center Marco Rossi. After wowing me in year one i wasn't very impressed with Tippett last season.
