There was a Hawks/Rams rivalry? News to me.

Oh yah, in the 90s/early 00s with penis face Mike Martz... fucker.

Bulger vs. Hasselbeck... like the two journeymen/tough QBs in the league that everyone knew wouldn't win a SBOWL (although Seattle at least got there).

Going from a number three receiver to number one means different coverage. He also has a different QB throwing to him and goodness forbid if he has that other QB throwing to him while targeting him three times a game.

Mmm, I don't think Seattle will run a traditional #1 (which JSN did do - when DK was out). I think they'll use bunch formations and move things around quite a bit... Detroit did this (least a couple years ago), Buffalo, Rams did it. Like none of those teams had a TRUE outside guy... None of those teams had a 'take over the top' guy... Seattle does have that with MVS although it wont be every play. I expect him to only get about 50% snaps.

End of day, if you have GOOD receivers, they'll get open - regardless whether they're an outside/deep threat, or a slot guy. That said, you have to put them in a formation to succeed. You don't do what Grubb did (Seattle's OC) and do a SPREAD formation... you keep it tight or bunch formation... and then pick/drag routes... Rams have done it all the time and abused Seattle constantly with it. And your TEs are heavily involved as well (which Kubiak has made clear he wants to do, expect 2 TE sets often with SEA - and Seattle has plenty of tight end talent at the moment). You can of course line guys up on the outside every so often. JSN did it last year when DK was out...

Hell you guys were doing the same thing in NOR last year and started out amazing, and then the entire offense drank from the fountain of anti-youth.

Haven’t read the comments, but here’s my brief thoughts.

1) I hate this deal for SF. Purdy is a decent-good QB that was propped up by a sick supporting cast IMO.

2) In this current player market, I’m not sure what else they could have done.

3) They are not a contender with this roster.

Contending will largely depended on if they hit with their 2025 draft and if they did how quickly those guys get up to speed.

Offensively the team isn't radically different than the 2023 one and is good enough to contend but the defense is a complete unknown right now.

Saleh is a massive upgrade at DC over who they had last year but the defense is going to mainly hinge on the DL guys draft this season and how they pan out.

I'm not counting out thr 49ers, they still have tremendous talent of their. Williams, CMC, and Kittle sre dtill among the best at their position. 49ers always seem to have a solid defense as well.

Too old. Kittle is 32, I think CMAC is cooked (2023 was I think his final year), Williams is gettin' up there as well.

The one big thing is they'll have Aiyuk back in hopefully full capacity.

The Seahawks were in the AFC until 2002.

PFFFT well Marc Bulger still sucked and that Penis face Martz was a jackass...

On a more sane note... Jeez it really was 2002. Well thank you @Brees#1

But when Shaheed and Hill went down it went to crap. McCoy was healthy week 14 and the offense was not the same because Shaheed and Hill's absences were felt. As for MVS, we'll see if Darnold is a Carr. Darnold doesn't have the Jetta now and Carr threw a beautiful deep ball.

Should be interesting.

I thought Carr was a better prospect out of College than Darnold, but I never did much research into either QB so I kind of have to throw up the :noidea:

I mean that's kind of my theme today... Jeez I can't remember a link offhand (PF lol) or even remember when Seattle went to the division! :L :L

If the 49ers bounce back they'll win the division. They also owned you when healthy. Nine straight regular season wins.

Rams beat thrm in the postseason when it matters.

And it wasn't 9 straight, it was which ended in 2020. Rams have won 3 straight, right now

The Rams are the favorites in the NFC West IMO, they have the best all around team, their LB unit is a bit of a question mark but they are loaded with talent elsewhere. The Niners have a lot of talent as well, but whether they can stay healthy is a question mark. The Cards are a team that shouldn’t be discounted, they have a good offense and should have an improved D. The Seahawks seem doomed to be cellar-dwellers this season in the West, obviously you never know for sure but it seems like the Seahawks are clearly the weakest team on paper coming in to the season in the West.
