No. My take is that the NBA’s process isn’t transparent. My take is that the league is corrupt and hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt so they deserve to have to deal with all of the rumors, innuendo, and conspiracy theories. And a bunch of rubes who still believe in Santa Claus, plus one r*pe apologist, are mocking me because I don’t believe a crooked league.

Well you haven't established that the NBA is crooked. So that's problem number 1.

The conspiracy curious people wouldn't care if the process was transparent. They would still assume it was rigged.

Is it transparent or no?

This is what the conspiracy theorists refuse to answer despite having been asked several times.

It's pretty much always the fatal flaw in conspiracy thinking. Whenever faced with questions that they can't answer without eviscerating their entire claim, they just pretend that the question wasn't asked.

I think im grasping this better now as i reflect. There are 14 balls. The lower the better for the "worse teams". They get more combinations but again we only have 1 to 14 to pull from.

This is literally retarded. And intentionally convuluted

Think of it like buying a bunch of lottery tickets. The worse your record is, the more combinations you have on your lottery tickets. There's 14 balls so there's X amount of potential combinations (too lazy to do the math right now but you get it). The number that got drawn for #1 last night just happened to be on Dallas' ticket. It's not all that convoluted. It's literally the Powerball on a smaller scale

It's a bit more complicated than that in practice which is why they don't show the lottery itself.

They draw the 4 lottery balls randomly. There are 1001 possible variations that can come from 4 slots and 14 possible values. They then assign a corresponding number of combinations to each team.

So the Jazz had a 14% of getting the number one pick so they got 140 4 value combinations. The Mavs have a 1.8% chance so they go 18 combinations.

So draft the first sequence for No. 1. Say it is 12,5,6,9. Whichever team has that combination then gets the Number 1 pick. Go on to the 2nd pick and they do it again. If they draw another combo that the first team has, they draw again.

The process is logical but a bit convoluted. Actually harder to rig than the straight ping ball process.
