And just like that a center cut fastball gets cranked. Dollander is our only starter who has been getting good run support, until Mahle he was getting an even 5.0 while in the game
At least the Rockies are in this game………so far

I was telling my oldest son who was sitting next to me at the game that Dollander's two best starts he pitched 5.2 innings and gave up 2 runs. I said get ready when the 6th inning started. Then Langford hits the 2 run homer with 2 outs in the 6th.

I like Martin more of a 7th or 8th inning guy as well as Garcia. Just wish we would have passed up on Peterson to get a legit closer.
Wonder if the team will look to Jon Gray as a possible closer but I think he would rather start

I really hope we do take a chance at Gray being the closer.

I am glad they made the next step in his progression to the major leagues by promoting him to AAA.

we haven't had a CLOSER all season. we have endured that since the close of spring training. and there is NO ONE on the roster or in the minors ready to step in as a closer. we wasted our chance to get Helsley and now the Cardinals are playing winning baseball and need him

He did some relief work at the end of the 2023 season and in some outing he was lights out, others well meh...

He was extremely important in the 2023 postseason and as a closer he does not have to hold back some so that he can go deep into the game. What I saw then was that when Gray was just letting it fly he really had some explosion to his pitches and was very tough to hit. I think he is the best choice we have at this moment.

You are absolutely right in that we do not have a closer. I don't know why CY drops the ball in regards to this. He was fortunate in how Yates turned out last year and I think he was hoping the same with Jackson. He treat closers like Jerry Jones used to treat field goal kickers.

That was a top notch draft year too

I hope so and if he does well maybe Garcia can get unloaded. I have lost patience with his lack of patience at the plate.
Plus Osuna has alot of upside and is only 22
