Apparently, that's one too many for the tinfoil hat crowd.
I’m not sure what’s going on. What’s absolutely evident though is that the NBA is a crooked organization loaded with inconsistency and scandal at the highest levels. They’ve earned all of this innuendo.

Yeah I have always been saying that if the NBA needed to rig the lottery to make a certain player go to a specific franchise they would do it. I felt this way when Lebron went to his hometown team or Lonzo ball went to the lakers. I think they sent Wemby to SA under Gregg Pop to manage his career before Charlotte or Detroit which could ruin his career. I also think that they gave SA the number 2 pick to get this franchise moving into appearing in the playoffs for years to come as a Wemby led spurs team would be big time ratings.

I am not saying they rig it every year I am sure there are years they let it ride like the 2022 draft. Its a shame I wanted Flagg to go to DC and change that franchise around it seems like they have been so irrelevant since Gilbert Arenas was the star there. I don't know how Flaggs development will be in between Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.

I think Flagg wants to go to Boston. Remember this. He was born in a town of 1500, up in Newport, Maine. Everyone up there is a C's fan. He pretty much said, that he did not want to play for the Lakers, 76ers or Knicks over the past year. Makes me wonder if the Celtics will send JB or KP to Dallas along with several #1s and keep Flagg in New England.

I don't get the conspiracy theory angle. Was it rigged last year for the Hawks to win it when they were supposed to pick like 10th or whatever it was?

Rigged or not, it's a failed concept. Fix the bad teams with the elite draft picks (or at least put them in position to do so). It's what every other major sport does. The NBA is mickey mousing this shit for no apparent reason.

Maybe something like the baseball model makes sense. Use something like a 3 year cumulative loss total to slot the draft order. Eliminates the one year tankers / major injury drops.

Fewer things matter less than where a guy fresh out of college wants to play.

Because the 76ers got the third pick?

No. Because the NBA is a corrupt organization similar to FIFA. Name another league that had a gambling scandal with officials rigging results. Name another league that told an owner they had to fire their GM and then the league picked the replacement. This was done based on reasoning that has been duplicated in no fewer than two dozen other situations that resulted in disparate treatment. It is what it is. The NBA has earned this reputation and they’ve earned all the rumor and innuendo that revolves around the sport.

Was there not a gambling scandal with refs fixing outcomes?

Yes and it was exposed because....*checks notes*

People couldn't keep their mouths shut.

Which is a big part of why the NBA is extremely unlikely to rig the lottery.

"2 people can keep a secret if one of them is dead".

Which begs the question, where are the bodies?

A gambling scandal that was >20 years ago and was exposed? A GM that was stupid enough to publicly flaunt that he was intentionally tanking for better picks in the leagues face?

You are free to believe what you will, and there is likely a little hank panky going on, but not the wide spread corrupt league that you are touting.
