You got the recordings of those calls?
Someone did. The nba acted like they wanted to help with the investigation. They found out what was known and buried it. I don’t blame them it was bad. I mean the only reason it was found out was people were running their mouth. It’s not like the nba figured anything out.

If they aren’t rigging it, then they shouldn’t have a problem televising it.

However, they refuse to do it despite all the conspiracy talk.

A league that has nothing to hide will take the necessary steps to show it.

If they are rigging it, then those who buy into that bullshit should be able to explain how they've managed to rig it for so many years and not had a single person come forward.

Not one disgruntled employee...

Not one person looking to clear their conscience...

Not one person with money issues looking to get a paid interview or writing a book...

Nothing to explain why the league would risk billions of dollars and basically ceasing to exist just to make sure a player, who isn't guaranteed to actually pan out, goes to a certain team.

So the answer is no, you don't.

And the bold is why the league couldn't risk rigging it.

Thanks for proving my point.

Yeah if the calls weren’t bad they would’ve shared them for transparency

So we are supposed to believe that in a 6 year period the Pelicans got the 1 with a 6 percent chance and Dallas got it with a 1.8 percent chance. This is insulting to people’s intelligence.
Why would the NBA rig it so Zion went to the Pelicans? He didn't even want to go there, why would the league?

Tanking gets you nowhere. Teams outside the top 10 been getting top picks recently

When they shortened the lotto odds, it was to stop teams from tanking the way Philly did with the Process, intentionally being bad in order to boost your lotto odds. Results wise via the lottery, its worked. Way more teams in that 6 to 10 range are jumping up and the worse teams aren't getting the pick. Some teams are still tanking despite of this but that's their fault for not adjusting. The NBA made a change and the results worked as they claimed they wanted, for teams to actually try. Yeah, there will be teams that will start tanking at some point in the season to chase a player like Flagg, but they don't want to reward teams for starting the season with no intention of trying (like Utah).

But the league has run into another problem now. The bad teams aren't getting picks. What are you suppose to do if you're Washington or Charlotte? You don't attract free agents. You field a roster, but its just bad (not intentionally) and the league tells you that you'll be awarded with a draft pick to make things better. But it never happens. Look how many times Charlotte keeps missing out.

The NBA is gonna have to shift to something like the MLB model if they want to change things. Make it where lotto odds are determined on your record over multiple seasons and there's a weighted formula for each based on that time span. So if you're bad like Charlotte for 5 years straight, you have a better chance than some team like the Sixers who were just bad one year

Until they televise the lottery in real time, there will always be suspicion about the NBA rigging the lottery.

FWIW, they do post the actual ball drawing once the TV ceremony is over. You can watch it here. And there's reporters like Zach Lowe in the room most years. I trust Lowe and he says there's no shenanigans

Conspiracy nonsense is childish. Adults run the NBA lottery and there are reporters (like Lowe) involved

I do see how people believe it though. Some of the results are pretty incredible and the NBA historically hasn't been as open explaining how things are actually done. Like Lowe's column about how its all done was only a few years ago. And even with them posting the actual lottery, they don't really tell people about it. You have to go out of your way to find it. But once you see how its done and just know a little bit about statistics, you can see it'd be pretty damn hard to rig

The statistics piece we covered, for the Spurs, Sixers and Mavs to all jump is easily 1 in 500 at best.

They have it so teams don’t just tank to automatically get the #1 pick.

Yes, of course.

But people tank anyway. And because of the lottery, ot actually encourages even more teams to tank to improve their chances at #1.

It does not do what it is intended to do.

Do away with it.

Dallas getting pick 1 this year is stupid..

Who is trading for Kyrie? Gonna have to be a contender and he is happy in Dallas. No guarantee that happens elsewhere

Yep

Kyrie is a very good player with very little trade value.

If Dallas is trying to win they can’t trade him.

But it doesn’t work.

Because now teams are unintentionally bad for that long.

And…

If the 6ers had better lottery luck early in the process, they wouldn’t have had to tank for as long.

Worst teams should get the best picks.

And yes, a small number of teams will tank each year.

But they are going to do that anyway.

It also is a shitty league with multiple scandals and questionable rulings, one of which involved an official rigging games. The NBA deserves to have these rumors and conspiracy theories fly. They’re a crooked league.

So I read up on how the lotto is actually done now, it's 14 balls numbered 1 to 14, and each team is given a set up combinations. So Dallas would have roughly 10 to 15 of the possible 1000 combinations, The Spurs would have like 60.

Eh, don't love it

It is definitely not rigged.

But it is a terrible system.

Let’s start the movement to end it! If the fans overwhelmingly want the lottery to end, I think the league would have to consider moving away from it.

It does nothing positive for the league.

With AI it would be as simple as programming it to change the answer key based on a specific result. It would be isnantaneous and no one would know any different. So no one "knows" how it happened just that it happened.

100 balls, picked in front of a crowd. First ball picked is first, if you repeat 1 through 4 pick a different ball.

Not that hard.

Exactly. If it were rigged, they Knicks and Lakers would have won it like 10 times combined
