You think he hasn't discussed that with Luka? Luka has already made public that he will be playing with the Slovenian national team this summer and his body people will be present. Luka was coming off an extended injury to his lower body that prevented much cardio, of course he wasn't in great shape. Luka has heard that concern for most of his career. The Mavs have been crushing him for it ever since the trade.

Then why the bullshit rip in the press conference? If he's said it to him behind the scenes, why say it for the cameras? He's an egomaniac that choked his first playoff series. We'll see what the future brings but that's where he's at

Yeah that's really my point. Hes signing either a 3 or 4 year extension, whichever he wants, for what, $57-58M per? After he signs, he says, ok, that's Brons coach. I can't play for him. I want blank.....it's back to podcasts for JJ

Because as @shopson67 said...it likely wasn't directed solely at Luka. Luka wasn't the only one looking tired in those 4th quarters. Reaves looked tired and so did at least a couple of other guys...Lebron did too, but he's 40 so he gets a pass.

The media jumped on it because of what the Mavs have been saying to defend themselves from getting crushed for making the trade.

Yes but...do you really think Luka sees those comments and thinks it was meant for Bron and Reaves? Get real. Luka was super offended by the fat and lazy crap the Mavs said because he played hurt this year, led the NBA in minutes last year, averaged 34/8/8 last year and led his team to the Finals at 25 years old. If he could do all that being fat, lazy and out of shape, then a motivated, in great shape Luka must top MJ and Bron fir GOAT. Cause he would have played every single minute, averaged 40/10/10 and beat Boston in the Finals.
Or...the criticism was unfair. Now his coach is spewing it

Seems pretty simple. JJ, without naming names, correctly said that some of the players weren't in championship shape.

It was pretty obvious in virtually every 4th quarter of that series, the Lakers had several players who were running on fumes...yet somehow this was a direct shot at Luka and Luka only.

Questionable if any of them were - I loved that trade - but argued with a friend since then that the Lakers were not guaranteed the finals - I think they would have had a decent chance with Mark Williams - but Even Doncic was injured and Williams wouldn't have been 100% - I think the Lakers already knew that this history and they were getting ready for next season - Now if Lebron really wants a championship - then He should take half the salary or less like Karl Malone did - so that the Lakers can put better players with him - But the Lakers were to beat up with injuries this year
