I think it just goes to show you that tanking doesn't do shit for you anymore in the Nhl, especially if there's one generational player that you have your eye on at number one overall. Not even San Jose with 50 regulation losses gets to draft #1...Lol. They’re the biggest loser

Yeah, I suppose, but they could've fallen to 3rd. Either way, basically, the top 9 teams all got fucked.

The Isles had only a 3.5% chance to pick 1st and Utah only a 3.2% chance to jump to 4th.

Doesn't Utah have enough young talent!? It's absolutely silly. I mean fuck...Lol

I think I’d feel better about it if they didn’t have an 18.5% chance at 1 through 3 balls. Really got my hopes up only to stomp on them.

So now the question is who falls and if the Flyers stick with the consensus picks or go off the board a bit. Also 6 is probably at the point where people start thinking about McQueen, would they take that home run swing that comes with a big injury risk? They took that route with Michkov, though the risk was a different one.

They fucked us.

When we were 10 we never got 1. When we were 14 we never got 2.

This is incredibly fucked.

Cheaters, liars and thieves. Burn canada to the ground.

It goes to show that the league will hand pick the winners and losers. Need to grow the game in Utah? Give them a top player. Need to grow the game in new york? Give them a top player.

The Islanders jumped from 10th to 1st and Utah jumped from 14th to 4th, just enough to steal our spot. Truly absurd.

So, we're picking 6th overall. That fucking stings.
So how does this fucking trashy lottery system work anyway? Any team that finished in tenth would be picking #1 and any team that finished in 14th would be picking #4 now?

Let's just have tanking. Fuck this shit.

Of course they would and of course he will fucking suck and never play like Nolan patrick.

6. Philadelphia Flyers: Anton Frondell, C, Djurgården (SWEDEN-2)

The Flyers dropping two spots in the lottery wasn’t ideal, but they’re fortunate that the draft is deep at their position of need: center. So, we’ll go with the best available one still on the board here in Frondell, giving the Flyers a couple of potential top-six pivots in their system (including Jett Luchanko, who they nabbed a year ago). The hope will be that at least one of them meshes long term with promising young winger Matvei Michkov. The Flyers once picked a Swede in the sixth-overall spot, too: a guy by the name of Peter Forsberg in 1991. — Kevin Kurz

Didn't go 14 to 2, but did go 13 to 2 in 2017. Just picked a guy who's career ended due to injury, while the rest of the top 5 turned into legit difference makers.

I have a hard time buying the rigged stuff because I think if the NHL were truly trying to rig things, they'd be rigging it for the Flyers. Comcast (NBC) was their broadcast partner for a long time and basically saved the NHL when they bought up OLN/Versus. A lot of teams' local broadcast rights are with local NBC affiliates too. Plus Comcast pours money into the Flyers and with a good team the Flyers are a premier NHL franchise in terms of merchandise sales, ticket sales, and viewership. There's a reason they keep picking them for outdoor games and special events. Intentionally letting a cash cow like that suffer in mediocrity for 15 years would be a dreadful business decision.

Could make the argument that they are rigging things and are just idiots to go along with it. But as much as I dislike Bettman et al, I don't think they're THAT stupid.

I think we should target Chicago for a trade to get the #3 pick.
San Jose wants to pair another top player with Celebrini.

Start with the COL pick and an early 2nd.

#6, late 20s, early 30s for #3.

They don't rig it for the Flyers because fans here still are engaged with a shitty worthless franchise. There's more value in creating a Utah market from nothing. A las vegas market from nothing. And the two biggest cities of course Chicago, new york. And don't forget that pissburgh has no basketball team so by putting a dynasty there you get a whole generation of new fans.

I agree. We need a top line center badly and stock piling picks in the 20s doesn't do much for us. We could throw in a player like Helge Grans too.

Whom they traded away in an all or nothing trade for Lindros and we know how that story played out. However, if the kid has Forsberg type skills, why not.
