The absolute last thing the Canucks need is to give someone their first go as a head coach. They need experience to get the culture working. Something is very off in that room right now. Even the coach doesn't want to be there.

Jackets had the same problem and Dean seems to have gotten it under control. Waddell has helped a bunch too.

The bold is 100% true but money wasnt the issue in trying to get Tocchet to stay here it appears.

Regardless, to take Jimbo2's comment about Manny as a potential coach in isolation as meaning they are hiring him is pretty big leap imo. What was he supposed to say about Manny after a reporter asked him if he was in the running ... " naw ... no NHL head coaching experience.

and honestly I would say he should be in the running when you compare him to the names that have come up and are available. Lavy??? fuck no ... Sullivan???? not coming west as per Jimbo yesterday... Bylsma??? how about Byls-no ... Woodcroft .... FUUUUUUUUUCK no ... I heard some say Quenneville??? hes a obvious no-go ... he will probably start his coaching resurrection in some podunk town where no one cares about hockey.

There are now reports that Jon Coopers job might be in jeopardy if they go out in round one so yes bring him home. But other than that name, no recycled "name" guy sparks my interest.

Back in the day, when they brought Vigneault in to coach the Canucks he was coming off a good season in Manitoba in the AHL where many of his young players were breaking into the NHL squad ... much like what the players under Malhotras charge this season in Abby have done. He seems to me to have helped develop many into better players ... DPetey (Jr),Sasson, Raty, Karlsson were improved players this year. Sounds like a few if not all of those names mentioned will be on the Canucks full time next season. I think Mannys a capable guy, great communicator and strong leader. Might be first go round as a head coach but he has been on an NHL bench for close to a 1000 games.

maybe Jimbo2 should have answered the reporters question that way instead of saying the word "shortlist" which seems to have made you guys jump all over that lol

I like Manny and he's done a heck of a job in Abbotsford - He should be in the mix to be the next head coach of the Vancouver Canucks.
