What's the general consensus on Kirk Cousins these days?

Most QBs can win it all when you have 2 of the best defenses in NFL history, lol.

Trent was a little turnover happy (but they had Lewis). Johnson didn't have a runningback like Lewis but he was great at not turning the ball over in 2002... Cousins turns the ball over a ton.

I agree if you put Cousins on the Eagles (like most QBs) with a great run game and defense, he'll win the SBOWL. That's not saying much though lol. You could've put a rookie on the 2000 Ravens/2002 Bucs roster and probably still won a Super Bowl as well.
I don’t think the 2024 Eagles would’ve won the Super Bowl with Cousins at QB - I think Jalen Hurts is still under appreciated by many, yeah the Eagles have an extremely talented team with the best RB and a great D but Hurts is a really good QB, arguably top 5 in the NFL, Kirk was nowhere near that level last year and he became a turnover machine in the last half of the season until we finally benched him for Penix. Kirk had a lot of offensive talent around him in ATL last year and he just wasn’t that great, he single handily cost us the game against the Chargers and was awful in a couple of other games as well.

Didn't have near the defense, and the coaching philosophy in Atlanta was not, "Dude just hand the ball off and don't turn the ball over." It was, "KIRK WIN GAMES AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE OUR DEFENSE SUCKS!"

Hurts may be a top 5 QB with rating but he is asked to do a very specific thing (almost EXACTLY like Wilson) and he does that well. Put him on a lot of other teams and I don't think he's sniffing the SBOWL.

Jalen Hurts is not a top 5 QB... lol.. please. He is asked to do a very specific thing (almost EXACTLY like Wilson) and he does that well. But he's not taking over games without a great supporting cast (which he def. has).
Jalen Hurts is a much better QB than you are giving him credit for. He does a lot more than just hand the ball off and run, you seem to forget that he made the Super Bowl 2 years ago and almost won, played a great game, with Miles Sanders as the main RB. Saquon’s awesome season overshadowed how good Hurts is.
You are correct that the Falcons D was bad most of last year and so Kirk had to do a lot more than if he had been on a team with a good D, but he was dismal in the second half of the season, the Eagles wouldn’t have won it all with him as QB, he wouldn’t have led them far in the playoffs.

He plays smart game manager football... which seems to becoming more and more of a thing these days. Seems like the run game and ball protection is coming back. Defense are getting faster/smarter and pass rush skills/athleticism is outpacing offensive line availability.

Penix is our starter, there’s no competition. Cousins is likely gone by the time the season starts IMO, but he’s not going to start for us anymore.
No QB is going to be content being a backup when they can start somewhere else. I would expect Kirk to waive his no trade clause if he isn't released. If he DOES stay though...I wouldn't be surprised if he regains the starting job. As much as I like Penix...I don't know if he's ready to be effective yet.

No way does Cousins regain the starting job in ATL - we are done with him as the starter. Penix is clearly QB1 for us now.

I dont know why him showing up is a surprise.
He is a professional.
he is getting paid, so only fair he acts like a leader. Whether starting or not.

Cousins has always seemed to be a stand up guy. (high character guy). I dont understand the big deal or why everyone is shocked?
Right now. he is a falcon. Showing up to work with others at voluntary workouts will only help his team. If nothing else. This could help facilitate a move for him. Outside of that. he looks out for his teammates.
