Back in the day a big body who could bang in the paint was a premium need. Today it is not as much. You need quick feet and ability to rotate and rim protect.

He was a decent free throw shooter. I will give him that.

This isnt as much about Anthony Mason though as it is about the difference in needs in both eras.

There are guys who wouldnt fit in one era or the other
You need to be more skilled in this era. Bigs that can shoot, guard the perimeter and pass are more likely to succeed. If they can defend at the rim too they are getting paid and playing for a long time

But final point on Mason. There is a negative billion percent chance he would have made an all star game in 2025.

Point is yes there are guys in the league today that wouldnt have been in the league 25 30 years ago. And there are plenty of guys in the league 25 30 years ago that wouldn't be in todays league. A guy like Edey would have been a multiple time all star in the 90s. Today he is a JAG.

I like to think how much of a better place the world would be if they never expanded the lane and kept it at 6 ft wide as it was intended

It is a lock.

He was a 2 time All American. Would have been a first round pick back then. Probably would have played a similar role.

Highly skilled 6’7” players make NBA rosters in any era.

I still can’t over the hitch on his fts…how he ever made one is beyond me

I think you should try to work this point in to every single conversation that we have on here.

You are only at about 50% currently.

Is it not relevant to the different players being better or worse convo going on right now?

So the playin results really fucked Miami over

Could’ve had 2’lottery picks in a deep lottery

Now they lose their pick and get something more in the normal range of picks. They just went over a cliff in this draft Imo

Miami is a team that should think about trading down for both of brooklyns picks (back to back) toward the end of round 1

They have enough needs that it’s worth it and brook needs to consolidate

I just feel like they have a bunch of guys that are like that anyway. So we add two more 6 to 9 rotation types?

Unless you swing big that’s what you’re probably staring at with 19. If you wanna swing on the foreigners you can.

I kinda like the idea of going for carter Bryant and Walter Clayton and philbon

One of those two should be there

It is what it is. They know how to draft so not worried

They absolutely do

No shade

It’s just a franchise like Miami could’ve gotten a badly needed injection of youth and if they dealt Wiggins for expiring deals be positioned for a max free agent next summer

Simpler way might be inquiring about Charlotte’s potential interest in a Rozier reunion… They have a pair of expiring deals in Nurkic and Okogie that could give Miami some low-end value.
