Sorry didn't list all my favorites, but threw out a few names I thought could be there on day 3 that are a nice development type but maybe not a great choice for the Pats considering they need the help now.

I do like Trapillo I just don't think he is making it to day 3. I think he is a day 2 pick for someone and they are happy about it.

As for Simmons I guess my main thing is that the character concerns have been repeated by people I respect in the industry and I've talked to some people connected to a few teams around the league and they have said the same thing that on their board they do have that red flag connected to him. So I trust that, but you could be right maybe a team is trying to put out info in the hopes that Simmons would fall to them. Happens every year.

Character concerns. A lot of young men have character concerns. Others appear to be the one guy you'd trust with your daughter for three days alone in blizzard. Then she tells you the last thing you ever want to hear. "Dad. You're going to be a grandfather."

What exactly are those character concerns? Ryan Day (HC OSU) was the QB at my grandson's HS in Manchester, NH. He stopped by at a practice and talked to the team. He seemed pretty straight forward. My guess is that, if a coach called him and asked what Simmon's problems were, Day would be honest and give details as long as it was kept confidential.

Depending on the situation, people can change. I saw it a hundred times in my life. I know my character changed between December 1968 and April 1972. Good, Bad, doesn't matter. I wasn't the same person. Situations and circumstances make men out of boys and mice out of men.

I'd have a talk with Simmons before I drafted him.
Yeah WTF are character concerns I agree. So someone doesn't like the fact the kid doesn't respond with a resounding yes sir no sir, is he a child molester? That would be concerning. And who the fuck get's to judge his character and what tool are they using to measure him. I hate that term almost as much as locker room cancer. The media love to coin a phrase then beat it to death. If he has an attitude and plays with one great, and locker rooms have a way of taking care of things.

While I don't disagree there is a lot to be said about team chemistry that can't have a value placed on it nor does it show up on any stat sheets.

There's a lot of talk about Abdul Carter showing up for a physical and a sit down with the Patriots on Moinday.

Guess who flew into Providence Thursday night? Quiet as a mouse and will be having a physical and meeting (workout?) with Vrabel, Cowden, Wolfe and Josh today? 6'6" 250# TE Tyler Warren. Guess who just happened to be in the right place at the right time to hear everything?? Yep, the much discerned Tom Curran. Who was able to get a five minute one on one. Warren seemed to be trying to hold back something and was overplaying being as cool as a cucumber. Until Curran asked, "How would you feel about playing here in New England?" I think his heart skipped a beat and he replied. "I'd love to be here. Very exciting to be playing with Drake."

Ever get a feeling that you're being led down a road you never expected to get you where you thought you were going?

The Patriots, with the fourth pick in 2025 NFL Draft select.................Tyler Warren TE Penn St.?

People do change.
People change their location and start to see life from a completely different perspective and can then realize where they were wrong or made mistakes. It does happen.

Tyreek Hill has character concerns...

Being a workout monster versus being the last one in/first one out is a bit less of a concern.

I would take a TE over DE or RB but not over LT. Now if the Pats are confident they can get a decent LT in RD 2 Conerly perhaps then yeah okay

LT is the biggest need. Undoubtedly.

But is this draft is such a stinker as has been hinted at in many locations, why draft someone at a position so soon just to move them later and redraft the same position?
At #4 you have to draft best player available. Draft for need on day 2 or 3. Day one has to be some one who will improve the team for years to come. Sack or score.

I don't agree that drafting one of the top tier LTs in this year draft would lead us to drafting another LT next year or year after that b/c the LT draft as whole is problematic. There are still two or three T in this draft that will have success in the NFL. I don't advocate for selecting best player available at 4 if it's not a real position of need, I don't buy apples if I don't need them. TE and LT are both positions of need, so to me a TE here makes sense, protecting the franchise QB makes more sense.

Wow, I could have sworn I read a post by you that said if we draft Campbell this year and he doesn't work out, move him to guard next year and draft an LT again.

And as I cannot find it...Apologies, my bad.

I've read and heard that Vrabel wants to give Caedan Wallace a fair shot at LT. He got bounced around two OL positions last year and never got a chance to settle anywhere. He was also hurt and came back and played before he was fully healed. Maybe with better coaching and playing one side of the line, he ""might"" be an answer.

That was posted but not by me. I seem to remember that post as well. It was about the same time frame the universe determined his arme were and 1/8" of an inch too short. Never mind we was the starting LT tackle for three years at LSU.

And having three or four open threads to discuss the same things convolutes things

To add to this. If it panned out that way and he ended up being a hell of guard and we drafted a better T that's not horrible

And that is part of the evaluation process is figuring out are these concerns we can deal with? Does the talent outweight the concerns? We do not know the exact concern with Simmons. Let's imagine it is that he shows up late to meetings everyday, blows off coaches, and doesn't put in the work in the offseason. Is that type of player even if very talented like Simmons worth it in the 1st especially with the 4th overall pick where the Pats are at.

There was a 1st round tackle just a few drafts ago that this was the exact concern. Isaiah Wilson for the Titans. Played only in 1 game for them before being traded for pennies on the dollar and didn't ever make it in the NFL. So yes these are big things for NFL teams to pay attention to. The best drafting team in the NFL (Philly) had their GM not long ago talking about the red flags that automatically get a player taken off their board. I would think more NFL teams would be looking to their example and saying "yup not worth having this headache that we have to deal with everyday".

If Campbell turns out to be John Hannah II, having short arms will be the last thing anyone remembers.

If Campbell turns out to be Might Light II, everyone will be saying, "I told you so, back in February of 2025."

No the last thing I would want to do is "Imagine" if someone made that claim they should back it up. Then teams should address that with the player. Every single player drafted comes with risk, the draft is and shall always be risk vs reward

I dont see Trapilo making it to day 3
The day 3 LT looks are for a 2nd OT draft pick, not for a starter IMHO
I'm sticking to my guns on Simmons. Someone come up with something besides whispers or I'm all in.

And I don't blame you one bit. Simmons is a really great prospect the little we did get to see him. He was easily going to make a case for himself as the best LT in this draft if he kept up his early season success before his injury. He has the athletic and physical profile you are looking for in a quality tackle so if the Pats take him say at 4 it will be risky but have some of the higher upside of any team taking tackle to be a huge success.

When I moved to North Carolina, My 10 year old son was stood up in front of the class by his teacher. "he's not polite because he does not say sir or ma'am."

I was furious. I went to the principle and told him My son has incredibly good manners. We came from California where sir or ma'am means "I don't like you sir" or "sit down, Ma'am!"
Still furious, I told the black principle, we come from a different culture. If anybody should understand the differences in different cultures, a fat black female teacher should understand!" He understood.

For the same reasons, I go off if a white person says a young black kid form Baltimore sounds like a thug! You sound like where you were raised!
