Quarter of a million miles on the old goat. I was just hoping to wait until a full economic collapse before replacing the wife's current car and passing it to the kids to replace this one. Desperate car dealers combined with sucker bet interest rates trying to curb inflation could mean savings. Although we want a Mazda or VW, so tariffs... They will figure out a way to put tariffs on used cars.

If it's just an alternator or some loose wires, that's prolly okay. The value of the car varies significantly depending on how much gas is in it, so not putting a lot of money in it.

We passed on our 2012 Ford Escape to my eldest daughter. It's got 280,000 KM on it and she recently took it into the garage and they gave her a laundry list of things to fix that total $4600. I told her that we could help her out if she wants the work done, but it's still driving okay and I think they have their eye on something newer and would want to put the money towards a different vehicle.

Hmmm I haven't seen it much since I was a kid. Normally I agree with Pat Sajak about everything, but not this. There are places and names I've only read, never heard out loud, that I might pronounce wrong. Admittedly far less common than Achilles, but I'd give them mispronounciations as long as they didn't add extra letters
