Nothing wrong with doing something nice for a player. It’s not like they turned down a top 3 draft pick like someone said we could get.
I don't disagree, but Milton wasn't a long term player who'd been through ups and downs over a period of time. One year and they did a nice thing and took less for a guy who apparently had more value?? When they keep talking about what's best for the team, one would think that a better deal would be best for the team.

On the other hand, maybe there's a little something going on under the covers that no one but the Patriots and Cowboys know about. Jerry Jones is having a real hard time getting Micah Parsons to sign a less than value contract extension. He's in the last year of his rookie contract and Jones is looking at Franchising him for the next two years if he doesn't sign it. The Patriots are one of a very few teams that could pay the guy near $40M a year, starting in 2025. Not saying that anything has been agreed, or even discussed. Just something that could be on a back burner.

After the trade for Milton my confidence is a bit shaken. They supposedly turned down better offers to make him happy? WTF happened to what's best for the team?
Maybe they did him a favor?

Maybe Dallas is where he wanted to go, or maybe Dak is injured often enough he thought he would have a greater opportunity to showcase his ability and take over?

Either way, I wish him the best but hope we don't ever see him beat the Pats.

Jack Jones has been released by the Raiders.
He had a pretty good year but rumors mention inconsistency.
Rumors also point out he has been benched for not following coaching.
Very few coaches are going to allow you to be out of position because you want an interception instead of covering.

It'll be interesting to see who does NOT show up.

I would bet most do. Pats have a pretty young roster and a lot of new players on top of the new coaching staff. I think most will be wanting to make a good first impression on the coaches and unless they are rehabbing an injury or have some kind of scheduling conflict/personal issue going on they will be there.

We also have a lot of players on the bubble. I think everyone will show up.

From all reports, everyone showed up. They were all in their shorts and shirts, no team stuff. League rules forbid it until legal OTAs and Mini-camps.

Everyone ran sprints, lifted some weights and were given lectures by the coaching staff.

Vrabel jokingly used the words "Voluntary" and "Voluntarily" thirteen times when speaking with the media. Someone raised the question, "WQhat if someone notifies the Players Association and says that this was not really voluntary. Vrabel almost laughed when he said, "I'll voluntarily deal with that, if someone complains." Warning??

Vrabel has already said, "It's on me. I have big shoulders and I'll carry the load. I'll take all of the blame if things go wrong."

It looks from outside like he's establishing his authority to every coach and players as well as the media. The Negative Nellies in the Boston area media have already felt the cold shoulder if they print or say something that is untrue or might be misconstrued and cause any kind of rift or problem in the locker room.

Very few players had anything to say when the Voluntary Day was over and most just smiled and shook their heads as they left Gillette.

The week prior to the draft Aprill 22-24 is the next Voluntary mini-camp. Think anyone will voluntarily stay home??
